Things I learned from hanging in bars.
Don't pick fights you can't win.

If you must fight an organized group of opponents, pick out the biggest and meanest first. Sucker punch him first. Psychological warfare is useful in a bar brawl, especially when everyone has been drinking.

Keep moving. Someone standing still is a good target.

It is hard to hit someone charging you. It is hard to hit someone moving laterally. It is a lot easier to hit some one with their back to you running away. If someone starts shooting, lateral movement to cover is the best option. Then either return fire or get the hell out of there.

The smallest guys in the room, have the least to loose. If they win a brawl against a bigger opponent, they are studs. If they loose a brawl against a bigger opponent, it was expected that the bigger guy would win.

Probably the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life was the big bar fight at the Clifton Hill Hotel one night. Everyone was pretty drunk, and there were two (big Irish) guys standing next to one another. One must have said something because the other one (who was standing behind him) looked insulted (like an actor in a silent movie) and wound his arm back and let fly with a haymaker to the back of the guy's head.

The guy he hit didn't even turn around (he probably thought someone bumped against him) but his friends were all pointing like 'look behind you!' so he turned around and saw this guy adopt a boxing stance. He just put out one of his arms and gave the guy a gentle push and he fell flat on his back.

That guy was DRUNK! I doubt he even remembered what happened when he woke up.

Bas Rutten's Self defence series might be of interest to you. This guy knows what he's talking about and he has tested all tecniques in practice.

Clearly this was written after many pints of beer.

No one's immune from talking total bollocks when drunk....

My list doesn't look anything at all like yours.

Takes all types I guess.

Glad some enjoyed it. I used to be a bouncer with a weapons permit in a pretty rough night club. Truth is, I got smart quick, quit my job. Bar brawls are for fools and drunks. I like to drink at home where it is safer. Safer till my wifey starts throwing blows.

More people get injured in fights at home than at bars, football matches, concerts etc.
