-ma temple guard
so my temple guard just got hit by a fireball and got -ma. apo failed. i fully aware that my team won´t last forever. injuries can always happen, aging and that high tr i am pretty sure that i have to totally rebuild them in about 20 games when i have too few uninjured, high skilled players that would justify giving away all those handicaps. but until than i hope i can play a few more majors with them and have my fun with this unique team. that the temple guard didn´t get a regen roll vs fireball leaves a bitter taste. for me it was a unknown bug

p.s.: just 1 game vs a underdog team and i am already full of the haters calling the team imba. give me a 300 tr claw chaos with wizard, you get injuries free eaters. how much do you want to bet on your win?

edit:
@brithnot: only in the first rounds. soon there will be mostly 250+ tr teams left, and the ts difference isn´t that big. + they might hire stuff+they get 5 handicaps
@prinz: they play only majors because i want to enjoy the team as long as possible how it is. you can modify rosters and play non-fumbbl games. so if you want to bet some bucks give me a pm.
@gregory: well the temple guard didn´t get a regen roll. don´t know about other regen players
@wg|dark_angel: i agree. they sure are a strong team and have an advantage other teams don´t get, but i still think they were stronger back when they won xfl dwarf,lc and fc in a row at tr ~250-320 (and i played better, because i pretty muched stopped playing ranked since than)

The Eaters are strong. The TG and the Beast compensate for a lot of shortcomings.

But they aren't imba.

I want to clarify the bug: is it that no regen is rolled for players hit by fireball??

/cheer
/hurt

although too bad about the bug. I wish he'd been hurt naturally :P

"give me a 300 tr claw chaos with wizard, you get injuries free eaters. how much do you want to bet on your win?"

Doesn't that mean they'd have to play more than twice a year?

They are far from imbalanced... if you're playing other 400 TR teams that somehow have only 1 niggle total.

Of course you do not, you only enter majors with them and beat up on teams 200 TR below you, so yeah then they are pretty imbalanced.

;)

If I had a team like that, you`d have to pay me to not only play Majors with it ;)

Just tell them, hate the game not the playa :D
Posted by Gromrilram on 2009-10-16 11:59:21
who should decide when he wants to play a team?

in my eyes the coach. and the coach only.

RC, we don't hate the player, we hate the team! :D

To answer your question gregory, yes, no regen was rolled after i used the fireball on Jacks temple guard and his apo failed.
It was odd, but im not sure if its a bug or not.

They are dwarves, of course we hate them.

Was this supposed to get sympathy or a hahahahah you got -ma.

Eaters are horrible, very imba.

BUT grats to you on building such a strong team.
Personally i belive its more the prize's available and admin allowing the Eaters to have temple guard and a Beast which makes your team Imba rather than the fact you have a strong team.

+ the fact that you play dwarves which is a loss of popularity on its own !

The Eaters at their peak were definately imba.... just like alot of other high ranking teams.

.... and just like most smack winning teams

.... and just like 90% of my blackbox teams

.... etc

Its a basic part of BB and an impressive feat in itself. I disagree with the way the team has been managed but I'm quite glad they existed.

I don't know what imba means. Deos that mean I fale?

*Insert bland negative cheese comment*

I've been told imba = unbalanced. Yawn.

By playing in the FC, talking about the FC, specing the FC, you say it's OK to build and run a team like this. Your attention makes this seem a good thing to do, to have, to use. So by that logic, you can't lay into JD. In my view at least. 'Don't hate the player; hate the game'.

And give someone good WE with 5 caps and a Wizard, and any Dorf team is underdog, even this one. Killing them, I admit, is more tricky, especially when they hardly play.

I'm surprised it's unknown bug to you.

even n00b as me saw Troll RiPed by fireball without regeneration rolls.

It sucks , yes. You steel got Beast though ^^

Personally I think teams like the Eaters make the site. I'd much rather spec them than an average side, even if I'm speccing in the hope they lose and get squished. It would be a really dull game if everyone was around 230/230 and there were no big-draw sides. Seeing the Eaters roster and imagining having to try and overcome it was what got me interested in tourneys.

Hehehe.

I prefer to call your team the "Uncompetitive Bloaters" JD... ;)

They are fat dwarves! I yearned to play them whilst I was still playing [R] majors. I was always pretty sure that my darkies with 5 handis and a wizzie would thrash them.

Overall - kudos to you for winning two majors with them. I would never take dorfs to a major cos I couldn't imagine me winning with them.

(Ignore the haters. People always make up reasons why other people win things. It is pure jealousy.)
Posted by shadow46x2 on 2009-10-16 21:06:50
um...actually...

people have hated your team far longer than when it became "imba".....
Posted by Mr_Foulscumm on 2009-10-16 23:11:48
They are dwarfs. Quite a lot of people hate them just because of that. Only time I would cheer for the Eaters is if they played something stupid... Like PeteWs Orcs...

How does imba=unbalanced? Clearly, the situation would be imbalanced unless IMBA was an acronym. You know, like NAMBLA!

Posted by Purplegoo on 2009-10-17 08:46:09
Are you trying to make Jack feel better there, Pete, or yourself? :)

There is ALWAYS jealousy attached to winning things - look at the hatred good sport teams generate. That's human nature.

However, to suggest there aren't other things at play here (or indeed - in the Major format in general) apart from simply winning and losing would be really, really naieve. And you aren't really, really naive. :)

The way you conduct yourself on the way to winning and losing is important to some people, and to be frank, they have a point and should be allowed to express it so long as they aren't real meanies. Even if you don't agree and I couldn't really care less, there is a point there.
Posted by PeteW on 2009-10-17 09:39:53
lol. I don;t feel bad purp - I laugh off most of the hate. :D

What is truly naive is thinking that a fat dwarf team is unbeatable. they are not, as JD knows. ;P

I would not enter a major with the eaters, and those people who thinkt hey are unbeatable are foolish.

If JD chooses not to play [R] at other times then that is his choice, and nothing to get worked up about!!!
