Starting out with FUMBBL
Well its now been four days since I set myself up on FUMBBL, and already I'm addicted. I have set up several teams since joining, and to be honest was a little naive in my set ups to begin with.
Created an Orc and Human team, mainly as these are the teams I have in model form at home. And yes like a complete noob, I thought I would come in and wipe the floor with my opponents (I know <=tossa). I then began to take my time, and read up on all the teams, and I then created a Dwarf and Dark Elf team, again with the intention of wiping the floor with the opposition. I know complete noob with delusions of granduer.
Then I played a great guy, Sillysod, and his halfling team with my kick ass Orc Team. Sillysod was an absolute gentleman, and offered good advice and suggestions throughout our game. I was convinced that playing halflings would be an easy win for a new team, but I couldnt catch the little blighters. And ended up on the receiving end of a whooping, and also the best lesson in using the FUMBBL site.
What was this lesson you ask, set up tactics? playing with a cage? Well it was none of the above.
The greatest lesson I learned from Sillysod was to have fun. I know it sounds lame, but give me a sec to explain what this meant to me. Sillysod went into the game no expecting a win, not wanting to get the SPP to skill up a particular player, he went in to the game knowing that playing with his Halfling team, it would be interesting, testing, and most of all fun. And as the game went on, I began to look onto the game through his eyes. So I laughed when his 3 little guys took out my Blitzer (imagine a big bad Orc being pummeled by 3 small guys wearing saucepans on their heads). And so I lost, but really enjoyed the game and had some fun in doing so.
So much so that I created a Halfing Team, the Southfarthing Pie Baker's. Not because I got beat by them, but because of the fun that can be had by having a game with them involved in it.
I found a game to play with my Halfling team, against a new team of Dark Elves, and had no expectations going into the game. My opponent was very quietly spoken, so there was not much banter throughout the match, but I really enjoyed it. The first half was spent trying to stop the elves from scoring, which I succeeded at even though I only had 3 players left on the pitch (2 of which were my treemen). And then in the 2nd half, I went and scored. I did have some lucky dice rolls, but I won the game.
My opponent was quiet in defeat, but I can imagine he was not impressed with the defeat but hopefully he enjoyed the match.
So the Southfarthing Pie Baker's are off to a flying start, and I will continue to play with them, as they are simply so entertaining.
Speak soon guys.

First of all welcome :)

Second. You already seem to have learned the most important lesson here: to have fun!

Keep it up, and I might be looking for your halflings one day;)

enjoy

Good luck with the halflings.

Dont forget the chef option. You can pay 20k for extra chefs (2+ to steal a re-roll) by chosing to purchase a team wizard (halflings dont get normal wizards). Drop a few re-rolls (wasted team value) and the chefs can be pretty brutal :)

Silly Sod really did expect to win...

Flings at low levels win more than one would think, and the opponent is always surprised. :)

Welcome!
