I just approved all of them. Easilyamused already gave me the heads up, or I may have deleted them myself as they look a lot like GW miniatures, even though they are from another company. I think the admins alway err on the side of caution when it comes to possible GW minis/artwork.

Which is wise of the admins, when in doubt. Keep up the good work!

yeah, simple really, don't put anything on the site that is GWs IP. Admins are spot on here tbh.

Thank you, i still have 4 more to upload to end the team, I was coming crazy with so much delete, hehe. And now I see that some of them are still big, so I will have to edit them again.

And dont worry, non of them are GW ;-)

It would be wise to submit a ticket or join chat in #fumbbladmin in such a case to make sure we're aware. We typically delete all pics of miniatures, so it's helpful if you tell us that yours are not GW.

I thought GW models were fine as long as you painted them yourself!..? Did I just make that up in my own head, though?..!
Posted by WhatBall on 2014-03-25 19:18:27
The policy is a strict, NO GW models or artwork, from what I understand.
Posted by Garion on 2014-03-25 19:45:23
Yeah I checked his team, they arent GW ones.
Posted by Kryten on 2014-03-25 20:01:02
To Jeffro's point - the GW IP policy requires that painted GW models include a disclaimer "model by GW, painted by Jeffro, no infringement intended, blah blah." There's just not room for that disclaimer text in 95 x 147 pixels. So, our policy is simply to chop pics of GW models.

Why a blog?
Posted by Ranudar on 2014-03-25 22:46:06
Why would anyone care to buy any more GW stuff, when they don't even let one post his own painted miniatures...
Posted by NES_one on 2014-03-25 23:32:14
I created a blog because I didn't know who was deleting them. And either how to contact the staff, I am newbie here.
I have 5 teams, only one is made with GW minis from 40k, so I will not upload it.
Sorry if I have disturbed too much, wasn't my intention. Is just that I like my minis to have them on the FUMBBL site. They represent me as I represent them hehe xD.

You are not allowed to use pictures YOU have made from miniatures YOU have bought and thus are YOU PROPERTY? GW still has a claim on YOUR miniatures? I mean, I could post pictures of my car without the manufacturer objecting, for instance.

This a just-in-case FUMBBL policy, right?

I'm not questioning it, just being curious.

Your car manufacturer doesn't have an unhealthy adversarial relationship with its customer base, and doesn't make its bones (mostly) on purely aesthetic, visible features. The analogy isn't great. But yah, while I'd argue that posting pics of GW figures you bought and painted probably constitutes fair use, I'd also not fault the admins for accommodating GW's prickishness.

@Frankenstein: It depends, it's complicated. In some legislations, the sculptor retains some IP over photographs of their sculpt and architects over the photographs of their buildings. Basicly not much rights though.

stop posting porn!

Also car companies do do this. The computer game burnout was refused permission to have a number of real cars in it because those companies didn't want their cars getting all smashed up etc...

"Why would anyone care to buy any more GW stuff, when they don't even let one post his own painted miniatures..."

Because GW does allow people to post pictures of painted miniatures. However, Fumbbl have gotten into "trouble" regarding GW IP rights before so now they're going with a very strict "no GW stuff" because it requires the least amount of work. So it makes sense from that point of view.

However, lots and lots and lots and lots of forums, blogs, painting services etc post pictures of GW miniatures every day. The GW IP banhammer fear is greatly exaggerated. IMHO.
