Starting Roster for Skavens
Hi,

i've never played with Skaven too much but now i want to change this.

The question is which Starting Team Roster really makes sense?
Are there any experienced or skilled coaches who can help mit with that?

Is it better to start with a Rat Ogre or not? Who much rerolls are really necessary at the beginning?

Thanks for any help,

Cheers!

I don't really use the rat ogre that much and rather spent my money on other things like stormvermin or gutter runners.

I would recommend starting with at least one thrower and two gutter runners. Try getting at least three rerolls and good fan factor because you'll need them. For better advice check out the starting rosters in the help section of this site.

good luck!

i go the other way with that and say yes get the rat ogre early - like all big guys its difficult to skill up quickly but with frenzy the rat ogre can do quite a lot of damage if you aim for 3 dice blocks against teams starting out.
Gutters and vermin tend to skill very easily and any level.
high fan factor is a must - skills like sure hands dodge and block limit your need for re-rolls.

If you want a viable team straight off the bat I would go with;

2 Vermin
2 Gutters
7 Linemen
Apothecary
3 Rerolls
Fan Factor 8

You can switch a vermin for a gutter if you prefer 3 gutters to begin with, but 2 should be fine for the first match.

After that add Gutters as quickly as you can to get up to 4 and get used to not using the apo on the linerats.

As for the Rat Ogre ... if you get up to 15 players and have the spare money to buy one, then go for it as they are better than a lineman, but otherwise I would keep your money to buy gutters / replace linefodder which you will need to do.

pretty much what duke tyrion said.
try to score with the vermins in game 1-2, so you skill them, the gutters can do that later. i however like to start with a thrower and ff 9 and without the apo and risk match 1 a little. i like having a roger in my lines later, because they are decent vs ag teams, but wouldnt invest money n them until you have a healthy team.

http://fumbbl.com/help:RaceStrategy is a good place to start.
When creating a team, always start with as high ff as possible (7-9). I´m no big fan of Big Guys anyway so I wouldn´t start with a Rat Ogre. You can start with 3 RRs or 2 and an apothecary.
