Why I prefer Black Box
With all the blog entries tied to the box lately, and I won't even mention the endless forums debates, I felt like saying my personal stance. Personally, I have no issue with either, and see them both as perfectly acceptable ways to get your bloody fix.

Now for a confession, I am a dirty pixel hugger. I am not proud of it, and despite my fair share of deaths, it still hurts when a star dies. The more games played by a team, the better the story, the more attachment I have to them, and the more I want to find that perfect match. This can lead to me practically shelving one of my favorite teams, simply because any match that I want, my opponent does not, and vice versa.

The concept of random scheduling fixes this problem beautifully for me. Now, I can take on all comers. Now, I can just put my faith in Nuffle to let the truly worthy players live on. Now, I can bask in the joy of my Necros getting paired randomly with a team of hapless Flings. Now, I can laugh in pure horror as my Skaven team is sentenced to death via Chaos.

My only reservation about the box, isn't the teams that stereotypically inhabit it, but simply that in my timezone, no teams are inhabiting it at all. Keep spreading the good word about Fumbbl, we have always had something special. Now days, with the shiny new client, we have something amazing.

I've had a similar Black Box experience: learn to take what comes and enjoy it (as Kryten told me recently). It's like a burden was lifted off my shoulders. Though I still hate when players die for silly reasons. MB/Claw/PO I can accept. That's inevitable. 6 assist foul by a DP? Happens. Rock thrown on T16 by crowd? That still annoys me. 1 die block with reroll on non-block target, skull rerolled to skull = kick to the groin. When the intendend victim was a zombie and the blocker was an AV9 player? Salt in the wound.
