The Greatest Game in the World
Greetings folks,
The other day I was speccing matches as I often do, I find it most enjoyable when I don't have the time to play a match to feed my addiction like this. Anyway in one particular match one opponent was crushing the other (mostly) due to dice as is often the case and the unlucky coach remarked, "I know blood bowl is a shit game but this is just ridiculous". There were a few other specs in game at the time and this comment just bothered me.
Blood bowl is the greatest game in the world, which in turn makes FUMBBL one of the greatest sites in the world. Without FUMBBL my life would be a bleak joyless existence. This rant wasn't really motivated by this one coach's comment but moreso a growing perception of mine that people don't seem to have enough appreciation for these two aforementioned facts.
Thanking all of the great people who make this site possible and of course the great C without whom this world would not exist.

Indeed, I always say how much I enjoy this game, and just how good of a game it is for one reason or another. I've played off and on for 15 years and hope to still be able to play in 15 more years. It truly is great, always has been. Sounds like the guy that made that comment needs to take a step back and gain some perspective, like most of us need at some point or another.

For all that is good about BB (and FUMBBL is excellent) to pretend that there are not issues in balance which are exacerbated by a bad set of rolls is an untenable position as far as I'm concerned.

@Licker- Dude called Blood Bowl a "Shit Game" and one doesn't just stumble over Fumbbl on the fluke. Of course there is balance issues and room for improvement, maybe something I didn't see 15 years ago because lack of playing, but it needed it then too and I'm not convinced that was what dude was referring too (balance issues). The premise of Blood Bowl is great and if you disagree with that, you arnt going to be on this site.

Passion about a game should not blind us from objective evaluation of it.
IF Blood Bowl were a true competitive e-sport game, with regular balance patches and online competition with millions player THEN it could be considered the greatest game in the world.
At the moment it's still, sadly, a beer & pretzels game.

A game where the majority of dice rolled are 2d6 is a crapshoot, by nature.
I love the game more than any other game in spite of the flaws with balance and the aforementioned crapshoot nature of it because it scratches 3 itches: Tactical RPG, Football, Warhammerish Fluff with bad puns abound. Take it or leave it.

The fact that we play the game with six sided dice should tell you everything you need to know about how balanced it is. Still good fun (most of the time).

blood bowl is a great game and one of the best sports if it was real haha. I fell in love and never abandoned it even if I lose a lot online and in worse ways.

It isn't a shit game....it's just a game where you have to roll dice (and so you can be lucky or not) but you also have to be careful on the moves and decisions you make and so on.
So blood bowl can make you laugh,enjoy,happy,surprised or can make you angry,frustrated and bored. It depends on what happens.
But I love it. And I love FUMBBL if I want to play online. That's why I'm still here nevertheless.

A little late to respond now but, I wasn't meaning to sound upset at others different opinions. Rather wanting to exclaim how much I love this game. I do get annoyed at disrespectful behaviour (and I'm not saying the one coach in question was being disrespectful necessarily, as I pointed out he was not the basis of my post but rather the impetus that got me posting).
So in short; I can handle others not thinking this is the greatest game in the world, and I'd still like to play against them..

I apologize to Licker if I come across as a complete dick. It had crossed my mind the blog would be viewed as pointless to some, but I didn't think I was overstepping my bounds by posting it. I've always tried to contribute to the site where I've been a member for many years. It seems I've made a dreadful mistake though and humiliated myself through my glaringly obvious personality defects.
