MSPaints Summer Soooooper Slam

Group managers: Stubby
Welcome to the MSPaints BB league, the format will run in a mostly standard way. To begin with all teams will play each other once, at this stage will run the mid-season break (this is will hit around mid-summer to allow for folks doing family holidays and such and run for a couple of weeks). The second half of the season will see teams play each other once more.

From here the playoffs will run based on team league scores, this allows for a decent balance where the best players are pitched against each other and don't get an easy ride to the final. The playoffs will follow a standard knockout formula getting smaller each round until the final.

Fumbbl contains its own scoring system however it doesn't allow for much flexibility, as such we will use a custom system that will be tracked manually through match reports on the Discord channel.

Victories will be rewarded with 20 points, 10 for a draw and 0 for a loss.

Bonus points for:
Keeping a Clean Sheet (not conceeding any TD) - 2 points
Inflicting 3 Blocking Cas - 2 points
Each Touchdown scored - 1 point (to a maximum of 2)

Custom Rules:
Due to a slant in the widespread BB gameplay to using lots of Star Players, we are looking to slightly take the edge off that. League is about developing your own team after all. Star player use will be limited as follows:
No more than a single star player may be used in any single match.
The following players are limited for in season use. Any team which is not Tier 5 cannot use each more than four times in the regular season (limited to twice each half):

Bomber Dribblesnot
Cindy Piewhistle
Dribl and Drull
Estelle La Veneaux
Griff Oberwald
Hakflem Skuttlespike
Morg ’n’ Thorg
Skitter Stab Stab
Maple Highgrove
Lord Borak the Destroyer

The following players are banned for play off use. Any team which is not Tier 5 cannot induce any of these stars in the play offs:

Bomber Dribblesnot
Cindy Piewhistle
Dribl and Drull
Estelle La Veneaux
Griff Oberwald
Hakflem Skuttlespike
Morg ’n’ Thorg
Skitter Stab Stab
Maple Highgrove
Lord Borak the Destroyer

Enforcement of this limitation will be manual as the client has no way to do this, so please take this into account. Breach of this will be met with an unfortunate Nuffle sanction (in the regular season your most experienced player will retire immediately in shame, in the play offs, the result of the game will be handed to your opponent). This may seem harsh, but your teams will definitely develop better scoring the touchdowns themselves.

Roster Creation Rules:
1.1million Gold Crowns

Teams are divided into tiers to allow for better balance, all teams receive an amount of free spp to spend at creation. These are not random rolls as per normal in season level increases, you can pick any skills that are valid for that player. The client doesn't fully allow for this so at team creation submit your team and a list of the changes needed.

No chosen skill at league creation to be repeated more than once (max two added guard for example)
Stacking of primary skills is allowed at the cost of forfeiting 1 primary at the same player type (eg stacking two primaries on a lineman costs 3 lineman primaries from your below budget)
Chose one of the skill package options for your team in the relevant tiers below.

Tier 1: Amazon, Dark Elf, Dwarf, Norse, Orc, Shambling Undead, Human
Option 1: 3 lineman primary skills, 1 positional primary skill
Option 2: 1 lineman primary skill, 2 positional primary skills

Tier 2: Chaos Dwarves, Chaos Chosen, Elven Union, High Elf, Necromantic Horror, Skaven, Underworld Denizens, Vampires, Wood elf, Lizardmen
Option 1: 5 linemen primary skills, 1 positional primary skill (of which 4 half cost)
Option 2: 3 linemen primary skills, 2 positional primary skills (of which 4 half cost)

Tier 3: Imperial Nobility, Tomb Kings, Slann, Chaos Renegade, Khorne
Option 1: 4 linemen primary skills, 2 positional primary skill (of which 4 half cost)
Option 2: 2 linemen primary skills, 3 positional primary skills (of which 4 half cost)

Tier 4: Snotlings, Nurgle, Black Orcs, Old World Alliance
Option 1: 5 linemen primary skills, 3 positional primary skill (of which 5 half cost)
Option 2: 3 linemen primary skills, 4 positional primary skills (of which 5 half cost)

Tier 5: Ogres, Goblins, Halflings, Gnomes
Option 1: 2 Secondary positional skills, 3 linemen primary skills, 2 positional primary skills (of which 2 Secondary and 4 primary half cost)
Option 2: 2 Secondary positional skills, 1 linemen primary skill, 3 positional primary skills (of which 2 Secondary and 4 primary half cost)

Notes:
No custom pitch or ball or referee rules
No sponsorships or stadium rules
Both of the above just complicate things in the client and slow everything down.
The ruleset being used is the standard BB 2020 Second season ones. The client handles everything under the hood. There are always a ton of errata that GW put out, and for the most part they can be ignored. If the client incorporates something (such as making only one block per turn) then we will use it, but trying to constantly make folks alter their team setups because three sets of errata are released during a season isn’t fair.

No rostering stars, when you hire a star it is a one off payment for that match alone, then they follow the money trail for the next match.
In the case of two teams wanting the same star player then the star will again follow the money. This will be determined with a simple d6 roll off, the winner gets the star for that match and pays an additional 20% (to simulate a bidding war). The loser does not get the player and loses their initial payment. All of this can be avoided if one coach decides the risk isn't worth it, they simply withdraw the offer, get their gold back and the opposing coach gets the star as normal.
