FUMBBL CUP QUARTERFINAL

The Hellbringers started in offence and were caught offguard by a quick switching defence by the Rest in Pieces (Perfect Defence). Although starting slowly, the Hellbringers eventually managed to gain the upper hand by sending one Mummy out of bounds and knocking out four players before scoring late in the first half. They also managed to injure the Rest in Pieces Wight with Piling On but the nasty player regenerated. In the small amount of time remaining in the first half, the Pieces managed to get one of their players sent off for fouling.

In the second half, the Pieces were disappointed to start the drive with two key players still knocked out from the first half. The Pieces used their speed to push the ball deep into Hellbringer territory. The Hellbringers knocked the ball free twice, but conceded an easy TD when a Hobbo running back in defence tripped over a blade of grass (failed GFI and then failed Reroll).

The Hellbringers lined up with just under half of the second period remaining and started the drive by forming a strong line in the middle of the pitch and using a foul to get rid of the dangerous Mummy 'Taker'. From there, the Hellbringers pushed forward, using their superior hitting power to knock out and stun Pieces players with ease. The Pieces' nasty Piling On Wight was badly hurt again during this passage of play but once again the evil fellow regenerated!

A mistake by the Pieces allowed the Hellbringers to get the upperhand and score the winning TD with only 6 Undead players left on the pitch.

What can I say, we both played pretty bad and in the end, luck was on my side. Darkwolf had gotten up really early to play this match so was probably not at his best. I was freezing as I couldn't be bothered turning on the heater and my ice cold shaking hands misclicked at least twice but luckily it only cost me MA, not unwanted dodges.

I got a few good armour rolls (though my Piling On CD was pretty useless the whole match) and my opponent didn't. He failed a lot of GFIs which helped me, though I also failed one with a reroll that would have otherwise made scoring quite difficult for him. He misclicked a few times and so did I.

In the second half, I clicked on Blitz instead of Foul (just stupidity!) when I had his Mummy surrounded thanks to a lucky one dice Pow after my skill-less Hobbo had made a very lucky 2 dice he choose block (how stupid of me not to check if his Mummy had guard or not) and pushed a Wight away.

So I won the match, but it probably was not a very good match for the up to 31 specs who logged in for a peep!

Anyways, now I am into the Semifinal against Robofreem's depleted Dark Elf team. He has a very nice AG5 Leap Blitzer, two Str 4 players and another AG 5 player. Very mobile. The key for me will be to reduce his numbers as he has the players to turn a mistake or loose protection of the ball into a quick TD.

Best of luck to you and your team Alex, I am sure we will cross paths again.

Team played like utter shit today. Could not hit or break armour. The 1 BH is literally the only armour break I could manage. I am proud of this team, as it went furhter than I expected and further than alot of good coaches and better teams.

Malthor played a classic chaos dwarf game. A few minor miscues was helped by alot of good blocking and ko's.

Will Rest in Pieces call it a career or go on to inflict more pain in the open division? Stay tuned...

Good luck Malthor in the finals, please win it so I can at least say I lost to the winner. ;)
