#3 Ssorgh – Smashed Knee (NI)
#6 Ssrikk't – Dead (RIP)
After scouring the rumours and the bars around after postings for Blood Bowl matches, the Sarawaks coach suddenly determined that he would have a match tonight no matter what. So in a luminous moment, he asked Gnurz Glob Trotters, a team of six Ogres and their attendant goblins, who graciously agreed to meet the lizards for playing ball.

The Sarawaks elected to kick off, a wise choice in hindsight. An unusual defense with the skinks spread all around the half was meant to meet any flying goblins, while the three Sauri (Ssawrh mending his rib cage) stood shoulder by shoulder against the towering ogres on the line of scrimmage.

As Nuffle would have it, the deeper placed ogre Kuzenn the Irrepressible suddenly received the kickoff. And there was much rejoicing. This changed all plans for both coaches. Now Kuzenn would try to rush along the flank himself, guarded by a wide pocket. Naturally would this invite a series of foolhardy blitzes from the skinks, but Kuzenn remained standing all the way.

It was during this period that things started to look very bleak for Shakk't. When Zegokk the Unbearable came running, slamming the skink into the barricades by full power, it was only thanks to the prayers and potions of our skink shaman that Shakk't made it through. He was somewhat angered by the incident, evidently, because the first thing he did as he leapt to his feet again was to run past the legs of Zegokk all the way to Bxedt Bigfury, who had been knocked over earlier. What he did to the goblin bears no repeating here, but Bxedt had to be dragged to the sidelines for some smelling salts afterwards.

Throughout this first half, ball-carrier Zegokk was the epicenter of a fistfighting flurry, where the ogres loomed like megaliths in a blizzard of lizards jumping and running and attacking. It came to a top when Zegokk was surrounded by Saurus Ssrah and five unmarked skinks. The resulting block was performed by what must be the Sarawaks weakest member, Sshripp't, who still has not quite recovered from his collarbone injury, and when Zegokk refused to go down, the fierceness of the defense deflated somewhat. Especially after Dozrut the Mighty inflicted terrific pain upon Ssorgh in a nasty block, and the searing agony paralyzed the the Saurus, preventing him from playing on.

The coaching staff was fully occupied attempting to revive the unconscious half of the remaining team when the only Saurus left on the pitch attempted to block Grud Headsplatter and was stunned by the ogre's flattening parry only some minutes before the referee mercifully blew the whistle for half time. At least the Sarawaks had successfully defended against the Ogre drive.

Seven against eleven players for the Sarawaks' first receiving kickoff - despite the ogres putting up a perfect defense formation, the ball return and handoff was successfully excuted, but there weren't enough free players to protect the lone rushing Sslither, who was knocked down by the blitzing deep goblins and was out cold for the drive. The five goblins successfully protected the ball, even if Sshripp't, despite his strength being nowhere up to par, refused to lose sight of the ball as he was knocked from greenskin to greenskin. When Kzux Greatdrinker by accident picked it up, they set off the rush. Sshripp't, having been knocked down, had to try overtaking the running goblin pocket, but he didn't escape Ddbag Madcutter, who grabbed the skink's head from behind and pressed his fingers into the eye. Unable to orient himself, Sshripp't had to seek help in the dugout.

What happened to Ssrikk't was similar in that he too was going follow the goblin pocket downfield for a desperate blitz, but the ogre duo Zarurg the Intolerant together with Zegokk the Unbearable effectively prevented that by one reaching out to grab Ssrikk't's head, the other his body, and together they twisted his head clean off. May Sotek receive this sacrifice favorably.

When at last Sshakk't caught up with the ball-carrying Kzux, he was unable to bring him down, and was himself in turn absolutely overwhelmed by six ogres and goblins, who hurt the skink pretty badly.

Although Ssrah the Saurus was the only Sarawaks player left on field at this point, he impressively got to his feet and dodged away from under ogre Zog the Wretched in another blitz attempt, but he simply wasn't quick enough to prevent the touchdown. 1-0 to the Ogres became the full-time result, not at all undeserved. The first loss for the Sarawaks.

Ah well. At least both the players and the coach received commendations from the opponents for their bravery. Which some fans might interpret as "foolhardiness". Nevertheless, this was a valuable experience, and the ogres were some surprisingly amiable fellows, all things considered.
