It was hot in the city.

Sticky and sweaty from the drive to the stadium these two foundation teams lined up against each other for the umpteenth time.

Early Blocking dominance by Carlton led to some desperate mesaures from the Adpets with a lucky pickup by the agile Lung-t'an (rumours abound he is the offspring of the famous 'Flash') put the Adepts up by one.

With their captain the Duke on the sideline nursing a tweaked groin Carlton tried to tie the match before the end of the half, but the intense heat took its toll with Brother Fernando Jr and Stoney 'Dan succumbing to the intense rays. The half ended 1-0 in favour of the Adpets.

Send half and the Duke was still out cold. A goalin pass droped the ball into Johnny Beegod's hand on the goalline, but a lucky hit and pickup had the Adepts streaking down the sideline in control and scoring with little time remaining.

GG Twahn, I believe!

Twhanloes:
3pts: Davros 'the Dr.' Hugz - Its hard to go past this superskilled superstar, always in the mix and delivering some punishing blocks
2pts: Eglandar Braybrook - Was there to provide support at all the right times, hard man to move
1pt: Colin Daniels - Controlled the ball well when he had it in hand and threw better than the stats represent, was let down in the catching department by his temamates.

The fans were relieved to see that all Carlton's stars would be turning up to play in this vital 5th round clash against long time rivals, the boy from Zen. It wasn't long into the match however (Turn 2, you useless no hope waste of TR bastard!) before Team Captain and all round Superstar Duke Snakefield was sending himself off to the dugout for some 'relief' of his own.

The lads valiantly attempted to prove the old adage "No Duke, No Carlton" wrong, a brave struggle that would last the entire match as Snakefield's relief continued unabated.
Though their attempts were indeed , at times, valiant enough to make an old man proud, sometimes you've just got to admit that most of time when you find that lots of people say the same thing, they're generally right...

Carlton had nowhere to turn when the going got tough, which didn't take long against a great team like Zen.

Great game as always FLo mate. more than a pleasure, despite having stuff handed to me all game... I believe too mate, somewhere deep down inside... ;-)

TWAHNLOW VOTES

3 Votes - #9 Lung-t'an
3 well deserved votes for superslick Hobgob. 2 TDS, a Completion, and an Interception to boot, he even managed a Block! The Lungster was key in both TDs and pretty much created them both through completely his own efforts. He's already earned himself a Golden Shield this season (well, most likely) and if he keeps playing like this he deserves the Twahnlow too!

2 Votes - #6 Ino Livelihood
Suppose I should recognise the vicious brutality of Mr. Livelihood, even though he's pretty much single handedly destroyed ours (livelihood, that is)! I hate you, Lively... next time. :)

1 Vote - #14 Disciple Shariputra
This lumbering brick gets a vote just for making his poor coach and I laugh. Deep in some kind of Zen Meditation, he could have had his entire team surrounding him to help with his rolls, but I reckon he still would have done nothing. :D
