A satisfactory Victory, some absymally failed plays mixed up with some good work. 3-1 is pleasing enough, as is the lack of injuries, but of course our MVP hog Anwar decided to age for a niggling injury.. huzzah.

Bashen Crash won the toss and opted to receive.. going against Questor Ro's pre-game prediction, and indeed proving him right that if the "Echoes" recieved it would be 3-1. Squirrel Grippa snuck on some knuckle dusters which funnily enough saw him score 2 casualties, including killing our skilless lineman Pendar, who was nervously saved by the apoth, as we invariably lose someone more important when we save a nobody. But not this time.. oh joy. Got a quick snap which enabled our almost 1 turner Togen to move within range, however when Shori had to use a reroll to make her pass, Togen decided he didnt want to make the two Go For Its for the TD so settled in on Talabans hip instead. In trying to set up some cover for him, Touchstone failed a dodge, perhaps proving the decision not to go it solo for the TD. But when Squirrel Grippa badly hurt the poor fellow.. it looked like being one of those games. With Orcs everywhere including standing over the ball, we werent feeling confident, especially when our guarding lineman Suryet failed her first dodge, but with a lucky blitz Talaban was able to burst free from the pack and head to the endzone, arriving in time to turn around and see the teams superstar Karesh Var calmly dodge into the ruck, pickup the ball in two tackle zones, leap, then dodge away before passing the ball which Talaban duely caught for the opening Touchdown. The Orc drive saw Shori badly hurt by Pyle Drivah, and Cote Hanga fail to pick the ball up. Karesh Var leaped to the challenge, hurdling the line of scrimmage and blitzing the poor thrower and stunning him before coming to a halt over the ball. The rest of the "Echoes" players swarmed just behind the "Crash" front line, denying them easy access to the ball. They of course busted a hole in this pathetic wall attempt, and the debutant thrower Nutshot Yield dodged his way to the ball, scooping it up with surprising ease, and then to the astonishment of the crowd, who had also spotted the lone 4 agility blitzer Oncomin Truk all on his lonesome, went for broke then and there hurling the ball over a mess of "Echoes" players, only to see it plucked from the air, after a small juggle mind you, by the elvish catcher Touchstone. Karesh Var cleared away his marker, and the newly returned "Echoes" player, having missed the last game through injury scampered in for the Touchdown. The next "Crash" drive started just as poorly, Squirrel Grippa blitzing Suryet but finishing up on his face instead, before any attempts towards the ball had happened. All the "Echoes" flooded the Orc backfield, marking each thrower, and setting up a one man wall between them and their teammates on the line of scrimmage, Touchstone with ball in hand. A brave run by the troll Brik Skithaus to cover the assists, and Steem Trane was able to blitz the ball carrier, Knocking him out. Cote Hanga dodged away and gathered the ball, but his pass was found wanting. The "Echoes" were unable to capitalise, Cation failing a simple dodge as he seems want to fail something in every game. This time Cote Hanga failed his dodge, spraining his groin, only to be healed up by the Orc Medic. Amongst this continued series of embaressing plays Karesh Var failed to pick the ball up, not once... but twice in what should have setup an easy TD for Cation, a player much in need of a skill like strip ball to actually make him useful. To finish Oncomin Truk attempted to get a completion, but in true justice to how the half finished he failed in the task.
Halftime: Echoes 2 Crash 0

A pitch invasion to start the second half made life interesting. 4 Crash players and 3 Echoes going down stunned. Nutshot Field pulling off the passing play to Oncomin Truk who headed slowly upfield with support. Between them Suryet and Talaban freed up the ball only to see it caught by Suryet who didnt seem capable of any more that turn, and was forced to instead wait for the retribution. Spear Tackla stunned her, and the "Truk" got to his feet and regathered. Karesh Var was unable to pull of the blitz, instead being knocked down by the ball carrier, who effortlessly marched up the field for the TD. Players were sent forward on the next drive, a completion to Anwar as we attempted to get him another skill roll, while Ra-Hel and Spear Tackla knocked each other over. With so many players marking up on our potential recievers, and Oncomin Truk up the field ready to harass the "Echoes" throwers, Talaban blitzed free and into the endzone. However Karesh Var was unable to pull off the long bomb, fumbling the ball instead. Cote Hanga swooped again passing off to.. you guessed it Oncoming Truk, with only a prone Anwar nearby, to match up against the blizter and two cronies of his. Using their speed, the "Echoes" swarmed, Cation was able to rush back and blitz along with Anwar's assist and the "Crash" star went down. Karesh Var leaping back to take hold of the ball and Talaban dodging away from his marker in the endzone for a closer reciever option. Squirrel Grippa again failed the team, trying to put down Suryet, he again found himself on his arse, and before any of the other "Crash" players had even moved or stood up. With Talaban wide open, Karesh Var handed off to Anwar so that he could throw the completion to get himself a skill roll, but he damn well dropped it. With Talaban well marked and Touchstone prone and well marked, while the game was now safe it didnt look like another "Echoes" TD would be forthcoming. Anwar dropped back, passing to Karesh Var, who sped upfield Going For It twice (notice the dumb order of handoff/pass used to get the completion for Anwar) handed it off to Talaban who caught the ball in two tackle zones, and dodged away for the final TD of the game, and proving Questor Ro right.
Final Score: Echoes of the Great Song 3 Bashen Crash 1.

As I said enough went right to make me happy. Now my debate is whether to pick up another much needed reroll or finally buy a thrower. Of course after all that effort to get 2 completions for the skill roll, Anwar got the MVP anyway, and bloody well aged for a niggle, I cant begin to tell you how much I hate aging. Going into next game in good shape... looking forward to the rematch from regionals with the WyvernTail Stingers, though they are looking stronger than I remember. Goodluck to Bacillen for the rest of his time in conferences. Hope you can pick up some wins and hold your spot here mate.

Twahnlows:

3 Votes to #7 Oncomin Truck - He holds the team together I feel. Didnt do too much wrong, got the TD, and was always a handy option, wasnt his fault if no-one could get the ball to him or protect him when he had it.

2 Votes to #5 Nutshot Field - I like the look of this new thrower. Did some wonderful things, overshadowing the more experienced Cote Hanga, and was dreadfully unlucky to be intercepted, in a play that could have changed the whole complexion of the game.

1 Vote to #1 Squirrel Grippa - 2 Casualties including a RIP. Snuck some knuckledusters onto the field so was Mr Block for the "Crash". Only gets the 1 vote however as he failed too many times I feel in trying to damage Suryet. A strong but not polished performance.

Twahnlow Votes

3 Votes - Suryet
It's becoming a Crash tradition to target key players, fail to injure them in any way, and then declare them remarkable players of this great game in the post-match report. Suryet survived repeated knuckleduster'd blob attacks on his person, remaining on the pitch to the very end.

2 Votes - Karesh Var
All elves are sneaky but Karesh Var is sneakier than most. He was everywhere out there and did everything right all day.

1 Vote - Talaban had great problems not scoring, despite being repeatedly "encouraged" not to.

The Crash were their own worst enemies out there today: fumbling, throwing interceptions and generally failing to hospitalise the easily-hospitalisable.

IN contrast, the elves punished their every mistake with blistering pace and Karesh Var in particular played the ball with near-perfection (except for one fumble the Crash's one eyed coach is not planning on mentioning).
