#2 Klaus Barbie – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#2 Klaus Barbie – Smashed Collar Bone (-ST)
SWL Season 14: Premier Game 5

Germany kicked off, and scored quickly through Benz and Bruce Willis while the Necro were still warming up. The Heroes replied through Richie and the score was 2-1 at half time.
By then, the Vermin Coach had already used his Apothecary to save Ferdinand Porsche from missing next round's vital matchup against Da Greenskin Raiders, and in the second half he had some cause for regret when Klaus Barbie was injured. The injury signified Barbie's last game for Germany, meaning only one of the original starting eleven Vermin remains, Manfred Von Richthofen. Manfred survived a few scares of his own as time wound down, finding himself unusually close to the action too many times for his liking. The second period was a tight affair mostly, as the Heroes & Vermin scrapped for control of the ball. Eventually it was Germany with the ball in hand, Benz on the fly, and the score 3-1. With little time remaining, the Necro's fumbled the ball on their kick reception, Manfred swooped in and handed off to Benz, who was good enough to pass to an open player in Porsche. There was only enough time left for the scoreboard attendants to change the display to 4-1 before the final siren, with Germany the winners, but the impact of Klaus's departure is yet to be felt.

Twahnlow Votes
3 votes- #14 Zargithis: Iron Man for the day, he tried his best to cause an upset, and was a general pain in the arse.
2 votes- #2 Ssilh: Should have died to a Matt Tinsen block, but regenerated. Was solid, threw alot of blocks, and was ones of the cornerstones to the Heroes.
1 vote- #5 Richie: Scored the only Hero TD, which kept things interesting till halfway through the second half.

This was one hell of a game, and the scoreline doesn't really do it justice.

The game started as expected, with the Heroes trying to provide as many wrinkles as possible to the offensively potent Vermin, but they managed to score with predictable ease.

Then disaster struck, as early double skulls in both Heroes turns allowed the Vermin a very quick second TD, probably putting a win out of reach, but a draw was still a strong possibility. They were able to secure the ball, and went back to the pounding that had served them so well in their comeback against the Skinks, successfully converting to make the score 2-1 at halftime, despite some excellent scrambling defence from the Vermin. It was clear that if the ball could be controlled, the Heroes would be in with a chance.

The second half saw the Heroes lose control of the ball fairly early on however. This resulted in a big scrap for control of the ball for the next 5 turns, with the Heroes never quite being able to re-establish control with a few lackluster turns. Eventually the ball bounced in the Vermins favour, and those crazy krauts only need an inch of daylight to run a mile. The game was over at 3-1, and the Heroes pretty much shut it down from there, conte3nt to try and earn some cheap spp.

Twahnlows:

2.5 pts each: Ferdiniand Porsche, Kaiser Wilhelm: I'm splitting the top points between this terrible twosome, as their ability to be everywhere at once hindered our progress a great deal, and despite them being a priority target, we were barely able to lay a hand on these fleet footed wonder-rats.

1 pt: Matt Tinsen: was a rock for the Vermin in the second half slugfest, providing assists for all, and also knocking out Richie, and the lack of that extra potential ballhandler proved costly for the Heroes.
