This was the sort of game that makes me want to tear out my hair. :P
First, let me say tzilacatzin was a great opponent. We were pretty evenly matched, and the game was pretty courtious on both sides.
Now to the farce of a game. I'll skip most of it, but suffice it to say, we were tied 2-2 at the start of Turn 5 of the second half. I had a reroll left, and he was down to nine players on the field and kicking off. I think I probably would have scored by sheer weight of numbers, and so far my Dancer-based tactics had been working. Then he kicked it off, got blitz, and somehow got it to fly halfway across the field and land a few squares behind the LOS. He got 4 players next to the spot via a crazy bunch of dodges and GFIs. Then he caught it, somehow escaped my blitz, made some absurd pass right through the scrum (thanks to NOS...), and scored. I still almost tied, except my Dancer couldn't roll a 1 on the catch.
And I only got one skill out of all this... :P

Woody summed the match up pretty well, except that I only had 3 players get to where the deciding kickoff was going to land :) What can I say, nerves of steel can't be beat. The reason I was able to pass through the scrum was that both my guys involved have nos, and I had 3 tz's on the woodies trying to intercept.

This was quite an exciting match (and was pretty defensive until I started losing too many players), and I'm more than happy to have been able to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Both sides had pretty evenly poor luck, but Woody was forced to use his rr's early on in both halves, which helped the Smilers prevail. I still can't believe the Wardancers couldn't tie the score, as there was an unopposed path to the end zone, if they could just hand the ball off.

Coach tzilacatzin looks forward to the day when coach Woodpecker challenges the mighty Sunshine and Smiles to a rematch.
