#9 Redguts Tendonslicer – Broken Ribs (MNG)
#9 Redguts Tendonslicer – Serious Concussion (-AV)
A second round battle in the 145 KO cup.

I don't play Khemri that often, but when I do I always get to pondering what a Mummy must be thinking throughtout the game. Ohh, I know they don't have any thoughts (heroic realism at work) but I am sure my little pixel Mummy dudes perk up when a skeleton or something with AV7 moves within range. Then I get to thinking about the Egyptian beliefs of the afterlife, and having read 'The Western Lands' recently by William S Burroughs and 'Ancient Evenings' by hmmm, Norman Mailer (?) which both deal extensively with the seven parts of the soul and the like. Somewhere that Mummies consciousness is aware. And since they usually embalmed people with lots of cash or great connections (or those who were to guard/serve them in the afterlife)...oh it's my turn?

So the first kick off saw the Blackguards promptly get the referee and threaten his family if he called any fouls on them . The Blackguards dirty player groaned slightly at the prospect of spillings some deliicious brains, but was kept on the bench as he is used only in retaliation.

Nuffle shined the boots of the Blackguards during the first half, as they knocked out a number of the Bombermans including a mummy. They could do no wrong and scored in a classic running down the sidelines manouver. Thanks of course to a double skulls. Both four ghouls and two wights all faster than most of the Khemri they were able to outpace their opponents. Nuffle then brought out some nice black shine for our shoes, so they really gleamed. The Bombermans, though showing surprising competence in handling the ball, were a little unprepared when the kickoff result was caught by a skeleton on the line in the wide zone. Scrambling to protect the ball, bad rolls prevented them from scoring.

Then Nuffle, pleased with the spiffy shine on the Blackguards unused fouling boots, went over to the Bombermans side. They wisely drew most of the Blackguards into a huge brawl on one side, then broke free and scampered out of range of the Undead to tie the game. On defence the Bombermans kept the center clear and forced the Blackguards wide where a good scrum developed on each side.

Overtime then. And who would Nuffle favor?

Early indications were the Bombermans, who won the coin toss for kick-off. But a bouncing ball and double skulls on their roll meant the Blackguards penetrated, and after a few turns of scuffling, made some crazy dodge rolls into TZ and picking up the ball and scored. The Bombermans then again showed great poise and were within scoring range on the last turn when a single die pow followed by a catch in a TZ and then some dodges for support, and then arrows on the Bombermans last turn sealed the tense and hard-fought match.

Kudo's to Blackhungrybeast! A well coached, well-thought out match. Catch you again on the pitch sir!
