Knowing the importance of this match, the girls really put the effort in. It could well be that they have a bit of an advantage when it comes to defeating their male counterparts -- let's just say that perhaps the raiders were a little distracted...

Anyway, to those of us watching from the sidelines, it was hard to tell which team had AV7 - the best the raiders could manage were a few KOs, while their armour fell to pieces (they were probably trying to show off or something.

The girls decided to slow things down on the first drive - mainly in the interests of self-preservation - with less raiders on the field, they felt that they'd take much less damage if they held off on the touchdown as long as possible. The raiders attempted a TTM, but Squee was caught by surprise and the ball slipped right out of his hands when Obould shoved the ball at him.

Half time score: 1-0

A pitch invasion left little in the way of defence; however, the raiders were down on numbers too (due to the invasion). Seeing their chance for a quick and easy touchdown, they went for it. Surc Gougedeye's solid pass was caught squarely by Badz Teefrippa, who put out a sudden burst of speed and ran for the score line. The Raiders were on the scoreboard, with scores tied 1-1 and plenty of time in the second half for anything to happen.

A deep kick forced the girls to scramble for the ball, and some cunning play seemed to leave Loony Tossa surrounded. She found a way through her would-be assailants, and threw the ball sailing right over the head of the orcs, at least that's what we thought was going to happen. Instead, Narg, surprise hero for the Greenskins leapt high into the air intercepting the ball, and drawing gasps of amazement from the crowd.

Up until this point, the girls had solidly dominated the match, but the intercept turned the whole thing around. Unfortunately for Narg, he twisted his ankle when he landed... so, when he tried to put a little extra distance between him and the Amazons, it gave way leaving him flat on his face. That was when the shaman, Bhool-ka Rapp, showed that he actually can do something more than pull rabbits out of hats (and hats out of rabbits for that matter), with a sizzling blast that sent not one, but TWO black orcs off the field!

From here on, it was just cleaning up for the girls. Zara collected the ball, and brought it upfield, handing off to Neck Krusha who had no trouble making her way to the scoreline with time to spare.

Final score: 2-1

If the rest of the team had been able to keep up with him, the girls could have been in trouble. With the sole touchdown, and two KOs to his name, this blitzer did his job to a par.

Everybody loves a hero ... no one loves a hero that falls flat on his face. He may not have done that much else, but that intercept alone scores him some votes in my books... and, if he hadn't fallen over his own feet, he would *definitely* have had three of them.

Well, I was a little undecided here, there weren't any other truly outstanding performers, but this fellow did put two players in the KO box. The alternative player that probably is deserving of a little respect is Surc Gougedeye, who made the flawless pass that allowed Badz Teefrippa to score in the second turn.”
