“SWL Season XV - Premier League - Round 7
The girls were off their marks this week. After a near flawless game against the Greenskin Raiders, this game was quite a contrast. It certainly wasn't all luck (though I did struggle with the important rolls at several points in the game). Really, it game down to several key mistakes on my part, combined with going against a stronger, well coached team.
The first drive saw a half-hearted offensive drive, which was stopped barely over the half-way mark with a vital blitz by Abhaya, knocking out the ball carrier, and collecting it just to top things off (show pony?). Despite having some decent chances, we failed to recover the ball, and at half time, the score was 0-1. We even tried a push-back 1-turner, which lasted until the second block came up with triple skulls - oops!
The second half saw the Adepts play a straightforward offence, and we never really looked like touching them. Though there were a couple of opportunities to apply some pressure, they didn't pay off (didn't even come close to paying off for that matter). Abhaya, being the show-pony that he is, took in his second touchdown of the match.
We did make a consolation touchdown, which I guess counts for something, and Elbow Kikka exacted revenge on Tetsugyu Mindful (the apothecary had been used to get Abhaya on the pitch at the beginning of the match). Our first decent chance at a Premier title slips away, and the loss of two blitzers will hurt for at least a couple of matches.
------------------- Twahnlow Votes -------------------
3 pts - #7 Abhaya
Well, despite the fact that this guy is quite a show-off, I think he actually does deserve the votes. He scored both of the adepts TDs, and knocked out a ball carrier in the process. Definitely an outstanding performer.
2 pts - #15 Tetsugyu Mindful
Along with Hthark the Unstoppable, this Bull Centaur was a right pain in the arse. Between them they covered pretty much the whole field with the possibility of a ST6/break-tackle blitz coming in at any point. These guys, more than anything else, dictated what I could and couldn't do.
1 pt - #3 Roshi Speech
As often seems to be the case, there were a variety of candidates for the final vote. This fellow gets it for the fact that he played his part to a par. Always in position to help out his teammates, and also killing Leg Breaka (who was fortunately able to be revived through some clever medical treatment). Solid effort from Roshi Speech.”
“The Adepts went into the final match of the disappointing Season 14 with an aim to stay out of relegation. A disrupted season meant that the boys were lacking in match practice, having played only 2 full games before this one.
The lack of practice however also meant a full squad and the appearance of crowd favourite Mr Hthark.
The first half was dominated by the Adepts stealing the ball at midfield and rumbling down (and over) the hapless females.
The second was much of the first, with the Adepts holding the ball and having their way. the girls were valiant but ultimately didn't have the strenght to match it with this band of rampaging Chaos dwarves.
Petulant as always they used their second hand tampons to suffocate up the much loved Tetsugyu Mindful, and injuerd him in the process.
But at the ned of the day it was the Adepts that cam eout on top, staying in the premier for one more season, chasing that ever elusive third title.
Twahnloes:
3pts: Loony Tossa - She was always around and threatening to dodge her way into someplace nasty or toss a long bomb for a TD
2pts: Head Stompa - Stood tall against the big boys and delivered some punishing blows
1pt: Hed Splitta - This willey reciever grabbed a very late score against the run of play.”
