GLT II Final 16 Match Up!

Luck reading out as we had to play this game in two parts due to some scheduling issues. We reloaded with 6 turns to go in the second half.

Handicaps were:

It Wasn't Me (on my better DP)
Bribe the Ref2
Doom and Gloom
Smelling Salts
Extra Training

The Guardians also had one of their two nigglers fail to show up so it was 14 Woodies vs 13 Chaos.
--------------
Biester kicked and got Perfect Defence and stacked the line of scrimmage... ouch!

The Guardians pushed to the right and pulled the ball back, risking snake-eyes to set up the gap on the right wing instead of protecting the ball, but luckily no snakes came up to leave the ball lying in the open.

The Guardians fouled first, but only stunned. Biester attacked the elves and didn't get far.

The Guardians burnt a rare and precious reroll trying to get a pow on two dice but the reroll was wasted and they had to instead do a 3+ dodge with their Catcher to get deep with the ball.

The Biester pressure was too much and the Guardians had to score on their third turn.

On the Guardians kickoff, they won a RR but had their Tree Badly Hurt by a gang foul (ouch...).

The Biester brought the ball up and the Guardians used their Wizard to bring down the front screeners, allowing their Str5 Wardancer to blitz through and knock the ball carrier down. A lucky scatter saw the ball caught by the other Guardians Wardancer!

The Biester were unable to get the ball back and the Guardians scored again to take a 2-0 lead.

On the next kickoff, the Guardians got a Blitz! They pushed downfield and stole the ball and with no RR left and few and fewer players on the pitch (the Str5 Wardancer was badly hurt on the second drive) the Guardians set up a play to take a commanding 3-0 lead. They needed just a 4+ pass with a Pass RR then a 2+ catch with Catch RR and then a 2+ dodge. The throw went wide and it was the Biester who had a chance at late score. The Guradians had made a mistake by not covering on potential scorer (a Str4 AG2 Beastman) and it was to this player the Biester would try to pass to but they unluckily failed their ball pick up.

Second half it was the Biester in offence with 11 (one of their players had been sent off for fouling, another had BH himself on a failed GFI) vs 10 Guardians (a whole stack of BHs!) with neither team having an apothecary.

The kick from the Guardians went deep and the Biester were spread out trying to get the ball and set up potential scorers as well as screen off the Guardians.

The Guardians got one of their Diving Tackle Catchers onto the Biester ball carrier using up one their team RR on a failed dodge.

THIS IS WHERE WE RELOADED FROM I DO NOT KNOW IF THE REPLAY FILE SHOWS ANYTHING PRIOR TO THIS.

The Guardians could try a -2 Dice block on the skill-less ball carrier (needing Pow and Skull/Pow on both dice - 25% chance and also a team RR) or could try a 1 dice blitz if they made a 3+ and 2+ dodge, then some more 2+s rolls (4 more). However, the dodge was failed and the Biester had a chance to advance the ball. They moved it forward after blitzing away the Guardians Sidestepping Diving Tackle defender, but then failed a 3+ pass to leave the ball on the ground!

The Guardians went for the ball but failed the 3+ pickup (with RR).

Biester then had some terrible luck, with a 3 dice blitz yielding 3 pushes on my Sidestepper who was next to the ball. Biester used a RR to get a pow and the Wood Elf jumped on the ball sending it deeper into Biester territory. With and time running out, Biester picked up the ball with their AG4 Chaos Warrior but then failed a GFI and dropped the ball!

The Guardians were able to get the ball on a 3+ this time around and took it to safety to seal the victory.

Dominik then asked me which of my players he should kill, my Wardancer, my Thrower or a Catcher. I told him go for all three! He had three turns left heh. Luckily for the Guardians, no more injuries were caused despite some late fouls just to try and maim my players.

The Guardians returned a turn 16 foul just for the sake of it but no one was hurt.
----------------
A lucky escape for the Guardians. Only one SI (niggle) that was apothed and 5 BHs and 60K winnings to take into the next match vs Sandune.

Dominik kept me under pressure and a few more favourable rolls his way with the hits would have made it tough. I did not feel in control of the game even at 2-0 up as I could see a score and then I would have to protect the ball with maybe as few as 6 players. However, I got a bit of luck when Dominik failed his pass then rolled a on on the GFI without RR after getting the 3 pushes on the blitz.

Grotty Little Tournament II - Round 1 (Eigth Final)

Of course Scharfe Biester didn't really stand a chance against the fully developed Wood Elves. There was a very small possibilty in doing a passing game at the 2nd half and hoping to counter the Elf offensive, but with dice rolls under the normal values, it couldn't be done successfully.
The handicaps didn't help me also.

I told my players, that they have to destroy some Elf player's carrer, but their Fangs weren't sharp enough.
