The Runners started in offence and had an amazing run early, causing a niggiling injury (not apothed) on their first turn, dowining both treemen and knocking one out.

The Guardians could do nothing right.

The game was amazing, very close despite the huge TR/TS difference.

Ankkh played a great great game. We both had some good and bad luck.

My initial turns were just rubbish. Couldn't knock anyone over, my first foul netted a send off. My other fouls only stunned. Meanwhile Ankkh was nailing my players, including a once dice pow (with pro reroll) on my Wardancer to KO him.

Eventually I did the leap and 3 dice blitz to knock the ball free and got a great bounce when I tried to pick it up.

I sacrificed my apothecary on a MNG on my Str5 Wardancer to show my intent on winning this game. ankkh then fouled him and caused a BH and got sent off and I scored.

The Runners scored on a one turn TD and the Guardians tried their own but rolled a double skulls early and then failed a 3+ dodge with reroll.

So second half started with the scores at 1-1.

The Guardians started in offence and scored quick, but lost another player on a send off with their first foul (both my DPs got sent off after rolling a 6).

Then came some criticlal luck... a nasty pitch invasion that flattened almost half of ankkh's team leaving him few options and some failed handling left the ball exposed.

The Guardians rushed through and blitzed the Str1 Gutter Runner with Foul Appearance who was next to the ball. A 1 was rolled, and a team reroll bought a skull/pow that knocked him out! and the Guardians made a 2+ roll to take a 3-1 lead.

The Runners scored on another one turn TD to take the score to 3-2.

The Guardians then brought up a strong cage (guard on each corner) and advanced the ball deep. The Runners tried to make it more difficult for the Guardians to score by pluggin up the scoring route but failed on a GFI (snakes?), KOing one of their key players (Storm Vermin).

The Guardians were able to score with a couple of 2+s to take the score to 4-2.

The Runners replied with another one turn TD and injured some more Guardians. However, there were still enough players to form a cage with four guarders and the Guardians ran the game clock down with the ball deep in Runners territory.

The Guardians who everyone had thought would annihilate the Runners finally made some casualties with their blocks, causing two in the final turn. In fact it had been the Runners who had done all the big hitting, casuing 4 casualties with their Claw/RSC player and a 5th with a foul.

Anyway, the game was much much closer than the knockers said it would be. A great game played by ankkh who was not that far off pushing the game into overtime.”
