“FINAL ROUND OF THE VETERAN STUNTY CUP 2

The final of the Veteran Stunty Cup 2 was between Fattie's Revenge and the Swarm Rats...and the starting conditions couldn't have been much worse for the halflings. Several players had been lured to a table full of delicious treats prior to the game and was now heavily food poisoned (Morley's Revenge), and the star player Logan turned out to be a huge diva, arriving with a massive hangover. (Dude, where am I?).

The Fatties won the coin toss though and chose to recieve the kickoff. Ice Dragon lined his mechavermins up on the LOS and a scattered heap of slaves behind them. The Fatties piled up their goodies in the front, positioned to force the armored robots out of the way and try to reach the Swarm Rats Poisoned Wind Globadier by blitzing the gnoblar in front of it with my minotaur. It worked better than I could have hoped for, leaving the opponent LOS prone and putting a niggle on the slave protecting the bomber, as well as rushing forward to prevent it from throwing. In the rear lines the ripper Woblar had huge problems getting his chainsaw started and Bellybum and Pudding fought over who should pick up the ball, but it was off to a good start.

Two brave slaves rushed past the Fattie LOS and aimed for the ball and poor Ham got his eye gouged out by the mechavermin Robotman, who made a blitz from his prone position, while the Swarm Rat bomber dodged away from the minotaur and ran for a good position to hurl it's deadly load...

...Gnarl the minotaur threw himself after him though, pushing slaves out the way and making a breaking tackle to position himself next to the star player. Meanwhile the troll Gob-Gob and some dive tackling halflings did their best to cut off the slaves running towards Pudding, who had now managed to pick up the ball. The LOS halfling Bolgar also managed to punch out another slave, injuring him seriously. Things looked good with a lot of the opponents boxed in or shadowed by dive tacklers!

The mechavermin Robotboy was slow to get up from the mauling it had got from Gob-Gob (failed bonehead roll), but it's colleauge Robotman knocked old Grandpa Grumblebuns out with a metal covered fist. Their bomber got a bomb away, but it didn't succeed in more than knocking Bolgar over. The dirty player Ytia was fast to run up and kick him while down, but without causing anything else than bruises.

Gnarl the Feroicious landed a heavy punch on the Poisoned Wind Globadier, leaving the bomber stunned at the side of the field. In the back of the lines Gob-Gob the troll and the dive tacklers made work short with their opponents, either knocking them out or throwing them to the side.

Robotman was on a roll on the LOS, knocking another halfling out with a heavy blow despite Logan constantly trying to scratch his way through his plate with his claws. Robotboy got up on his feet and set aim for Gob-Gob, who was bodyguarding the ball carrier. This cause enough confusion to allow the slave blitzers to rearrange themselves for another attack. Meanwhile Ytea had another go at the prone Bolgar, kicking him in the ribs and leaving him stunned. The referee actually noticed it this time and was about to ban the foul slave from the game, but Ice_Dragon himself ran onto the pitch and managed to convince him to keep a high bar, since it was the finals of the Stunty Veteran Cup!

Woblar finally got his saw working and disposed of one of the slave blitzers, who passed out from fear. At the same time Gob-Gob finished off Robotboy, damaging the mechavermin enough to put it out of comission for the rest of the match. When Gnarl also knocked out Ytea with a blitz, and the ball carrying Pudding put the last of the slave blitzers out of the match it stood clear that the Fatties had won a clear advantage! The Swarm Rats was left with only 4 players on the pitch.

The only opponent having any success was Robotman, who charged and stunned the ripper Woblar and positioned himself next to the ball carrier and Gob-Gob the troll. The bomber managed to dodge himself away from his guardian for a second, but was quickly shadowed.

While Gob-Gob pummeled the last mechavermin Pudding started his rush towards the end zone, covered by Gnarl who blitzed his followers.

Despite being covered the Poisoned Wind Globadier managed to hurl a bomb that caught the hung over Logan off guard. The star player proved to be a big disappointment as the bomb wounded him enough to disallow any further play.

Gnarl finally halted the bomber by a succesful blitz that put the star player in the KO box, leaving Ice_Dragon with only two slaves and Robotman, who spend most of his time pummeled by Gob-Gob, but the robot fought hard and struck Woblar so bad that he knocked him out. By now Pudding could run the ball in for a TD though, leaving Ice_Dragon with just a few seconds and a badly decimated team for the rest of the second half.

Surprisingly all four of his knocked out players were ready for play again though, while the referee had discovered Woblar's chainsaw while he was KO'd and banned him from the rest of the match. He was fought to bring out his reserves for the final kickoff in the first half though, and achieved little while getting his death roller and one of his blunder busses banned by the ref before the half time break. So was Fattie himself though, who only got to play a marginal role in the final.

Despite the Fatties big advantage in the first half the food poisoned players and a bad recovery rate of the knocked out players left the teams with pretty equal strength for the start of the second half. The Fatties consisted of Gnarl, Gob-Gob and 7 brave halflings, the Swarm Rat of the mechavermin Robotman, a blunderbuss, the Poisoned Wing Globadier and 7 slaves...and now the opponent had the kickoff!

The Fattie's piled up Gob-Gob surrounded with halflings at the LOS, Gnarl in a blitzer position and two dive tacklers in the end zone in case the opponent would try to fling a ball carrier over the LOS with the blunder buss. The Swarm Rat on the other hand lined up for bashing, with only the blunder buss carrier focusing on the ball. A decision that would prove fatal...

The Fattie's landed the ball close to an unguarded section of the LOS. Not surprisingly Robotman caused havoc in the LOS, knocking one of the halflings out directly. Sharpshooter Shosae fumbled with the ball though, leaving room for a Fattie blitz.

Gnarl was on his feet immediately, blitzing Shosae with phenomenal speed and knocking him out, leaving the frenzied minotaur with the ball at his feet. Quickly some halflings ran in to pick it up...

...but suddenly a crater of fire and dirt sent them scattering in all directions. A well placed bomb disposed of both Grandpa Grumblebuns and Flander Flabbyguts, leaving the Fatties badly outnumbered on the field. Gnarl showed why he is considered a star player though and knocked out one of the slaves who managed to snatch the ball up, guarding it with hoves stomping the ground as a threat of what awaits further attempts. The LOS brawl took it's toll on both teams, and the Fatties where now down to just 4 players against 6 opponents.

Suddenly the LOS dissolved when the Swarm Rats split up in two teams. One went to overpower Gnarl and snatch the ball away from his feets, while the other encircled the only halfling even near the action. Gob-Gob was left confuzed and would have been the victim of another bomb from the Poisoned Wind Globadier, but it exploded prematurely, stunning it's thrower.

I know realized that it wouldn't score anymore in this match. All hope was to stall the rest of the match, and Gnarl and Gob-Gob was put to use clearing a zone around the ball, while the halflings were caught up in man-to-man struggle against slaves. The halfling Bolgar got the crowd cheering though when he decapitated his opponent, the slave Jeks, with debris left from the mechavermin Robotboy.

A wild fight broke out around the ball, and a crucial moment happened when Gnarl crashed to the ground and was fouled by the dirty player Owla. The ref noticed it and when Ice_Dragon made a new effort to smooth it over he was banned from the match together with Owla. This evened the numbers out to four on each side, and with two big guys the Fatties had a dominating position. Time was running out and even if the Swarm Rats managed to reduce the Fatties to three players they were never able to reach the ball.

Fattie's Revenge won their first tournament and are now proud keepers of the Stunty Veteran Cup!
