FUMBBL Cup QST Qualifier round 2.

Coach MadTias was happy to see the Dorfs in the second round, considering the alternative of Istarios' ridicilous WE. "Dorfs are easy", he said. He was to eat his words later... The Jarls blocked harder than da Rippas today and that was decisive. Another tough game that went to OT. Da Rippas brought Ripper and the Jarls brought Grim. The entire match was played in pouring rain.

The Dorfs received first and did their 8 turn thing, following the elaborate game plan of foul-with-DP-until-he-gets-sent-off. The Jarls protected the ball well, so it was never in danger. They wore down da Rippas defense and could score easily in turn 8. The Goblin missed the match, so no TTM opportunity. 0-1 at half-time.

Da Rippas, already losing the attrition war, went into second half with the plan to score fast and then try to steal the ball to prevent OT. The first part of the plan worked, as Blitzer Goluk could dodge in the TD in the second turn, in the face of a blitz!!! Both teams did some tripping in the early part of the half, and da Rippas tripped when we tried to pressure the ball-carrier on the start of the Jarls' drive. This allowed the Jarls to easily move the ball into a semi-cage. But only a little later, the Jarls' Troll Slayer knocked himself down, allowing da Rippas to take down the ball-carrier and steal the ball. However, it turned out to be too hard both to protect the ball and get into a scoring position, so da Rippas had to settle for 1-1 at full time.

Da Rippas got to receive in OT, that both teams started with 2 RR. There were more Dorfs than Orcs left on the pitch however. Da Rippas tried to make a break down one flank, to try and exploit the weakness of the slow-moving Dorfs. But the Jarls cunningly marked the ball-carrier with the DT Dorf and he failed his dodge to get away. There was then a scuffle for the ball for a few turns, but it was an uphill struggle for da Rippas and eventually the Jarls could secure the ball and their win.

GG Cris, well played. GL in the next round. Doing the math: You made 75 MB blocks, I only made 44. Decisive and well set up.
