Coaches Mellor and Hill, two long time adversaries of just about any game you can imagine, competed in their inaugral online bloodbowl match to kick off the New Year.

Nursing a hangover and a mouth like Gandhi's flip-flop, Coach Mellor took his native Norse team to the pitch for his first game in charge, having become disillusioned with devoting his bloodbowl career to the largely boring Chaos Dwarves. Despite all the hardwork he put in with him, he never really reaped any rewards and spent more often than not cursing his opponents in unsporting tantrums when the dice didn't go his way.

Coach Hill, taking charge of his Necromantic race for the first time did't seem fazed at all by the occasion and after electing to receive the kick off, wasted no time in wiping out the norse front line. In-fact, Coach Mellor was getting a sense of deja-vu as 3 turns in, Vanian's Villains had 96% luck.

With the Villains looking likely scorers and the Madheads suffering a couple of losses, including a serious injury, a sudden twist of fate saw Coach hill's luck plummet, along with his Werewolf's attempted pass, and in no time the Madheads engineered a breakthrough upfield to steal a TD before half-time (prior to which, Coach Hill gave a glimpse of what to expect from him in future as he instructed his Villain's to gather round and foul one of the madheads who was felled while necking a pint in celebration of the Madheads TD).

The second half began with a lousy kick which allowed the Norse Blitzer to take possession of the ball and steam down the left flank. He appeared to be in a promising position, however tripped and fell while needlessly going for it, an error Coach Mellor thought would cost him the victory, however more inexperience from Coach Hill allowed him to get back on his feet and blitz the villain who had recovered possession, pick up the ball and stumble over for a 2-0 lead and a valuable set of star player points.

After this, a despondent Coach Hill never really looked like achieving a draw, which was still possible. He nearly made it over the line for his first TD, however again the resilience of the Norse, combined with more bad luck and inexperience for the Villains, saw the match eter out into a slug fest as Mellortron regained possession and the Villains inflicted another serious injury upon the Norse and knocked a couple more out.

All in all, an entertaining match was witnessed, with Mellortron easing into Norse life comfortable and leaving with bragging rights over his sworn enemy. However, he knows his Norse sides future is precariously balanced as they must enter the next match with at least one player down so he will be thinking carefully about his next signing prior to the potentially perilous second match (perhaps a rematch?).

For Coach Hill, he must take heart from his violent villains ability to inflict injuries on their opponents, which is a surefire way to gaining skill rolls, whilst he knows he must work out how to get the best out of his Werewolves and find a use for his Zombies, who were largely redundant and ineffectual in this game, despite their latent potential.

That's all for now. Mellortronz Madheads are off to drink the nightaway with rambunctious delight.
