“New season and the Cambrian Wood Elves returned to the scene of their disasterous first game.
Y Redigwyr had stated that they were out to avenge the 2 team mates killed in that opening game and Yr Aderin and Penmelyn had personal scores to settle.
However with the Dwarves blitzing Gwion Cefncoed back onto the bench to open play it looked very much like it was to be a repeat of the deadly first encounter.
Siriol Tangwyllt fumbled a quick pass and the Tree Gwerddwallt knocked himself over on the simplest of blocks leading to a Dwarf turnover and opening score.
The team evened things up before the half (becoming the first team to score against the Sea Wolves) and the 2nd half left all to play for.
The dwarves blocking was not nearly as effective as in the previous meeting but they out dodged the more agile elves.
Some tenacious defence led to the ball being spilled but the woodies failed to secure the ball and the Sea Wolves scored with no time for a return score.
To date the fans have been very loyal, but this is no longer 7 plucky Woodies recovering bravely from the brink. Despite the Redigwyrs Coaches allegations of illegal magic the team clearly must do better. Geraint Penllew failed to make any impact in the second half falling over 3 times. For an agile team the number of failed pickup's, throws and dodges is woeful.
Dylan Braichcryf was the sole player to come away with his head held high. As key thrower he launched the pass for the TD and though he made only 1 block all game he made it count. But he had the same to say as his team-mates. "Sori, Dyn ni'n wedi gadeal lawr, y ffans, y bos, ein hunain."
“Well, season 4 started pretty much like season 3: a crushing victory against some pansy elveses :) When the first kickoff of the game is a blitz, and the first dice roll is a SI, you know things are going your way. In fairness, it helped that their star turn forgot to tie his shoelaces and rolled 5 failed gfi's out of 7 attempts, causing 3 turnovers in a row... harsh... Still, we can only play the team that's put in front of us, so we're feeling quite self satisfied at the moment, with the prospect of more elfbowl to come, versus Manchester Morons, think that's what they're called... :)
Forgot to mention: full credit to the elves for being the first team to actually score against the sea wolves, who had 4 clean sheets in a row up until this game!”
