“The fans shed tears at kick-off as once more Barktooth, the venerable Treeman failed to show for the first half of an important match against the Orcses. Banners waved around the stadium as the fans made their feelings clear to the coach and management of the Brewer's. One suspects it could have been his final match in a Buckland jersey as he has now failed to show for the first period of all 4 matches!

Opting to kick and play a zonal defense, the Brewer's played a fantastic first period preventing the Orcs from scoring. Minimising physical contact they plugged the gaps in numbers and save for the occasional blitz remained unscathed. In the final turn the Manglers went for the score but a three halfling tight defence stopped the potential runner.

Barktooth returned for the second period and the fans were in good spirits, sensing an early score was possible. BLITZ!!! The Manglers flooded through the defensive line, protecting the ball and inflicting severe casualties. Olo Gardener fell and never returned to the field, the apothecary pronounced him dead only minutes later. With Rufus also taking a blow to teh leg that looks certain to end his fledgling career the Mangler drive saw them take the lead 1-0.

Brewer's received and the touchback was picked up by Sancho and the injured Treeman grabbed the Halfling and prompty slammed him into the ground. Instant turnover and the ball scattered loose for the manglers to swoop on. The Buckland halflings fell under the continued blows of the Orcs and the Manglers went on to win 2-0.

The score was easy made unpleasant by the unnecessary fouling of the Treeman. Later the Mangler's coach admitted an irrational fear of wood but the Brewer's fans were incensed and unpleasantries abounded!

Hopefully the Brewer's can go on from this to rebuild the team and come back fighting fit!
