Lost a key Ag 5 man BH right off Turn 1, and a the game rarely felt under control for the rest of the half for either coach, as a Pair of Blitzs on kickoff rolls led to a struggling 5-turn TD for the Delvers, followed by Chewie pulling a rabbit out of his hat with a desperate double-dodge gfi 1d blitz to foil an intercepted kickoff, and turn a solid 2-0 threat into a scramble for the ball and then a 1-1 halftime score! (This also sent the Witch Elf off the field for the game- which dropped the Delvers down to 8 for the 2nd half kickoff with another KO'd!)
2nd half, kicking off 8 men to 11, the Delvers were back on their heels to stop AAL, or even put pressure on them not to stall out for the win. With a sidestepping Blodger holding the ball on the sideline at the goal, a 1d blitz was expected to pressure the TD sidestep, but a Skull led to a lucky(?) RR Pow that sent the ball crowd-scattering into the far corner endzone, which at least encouraged the score the next turn. With only 2 turns to tie it up (instead of 4 had the push worked!), no RR's and down 9 men to 11, the Delvers threatened... but didn't deliver.
Well coached by Chewie, a clean win, and no hard feelings about the niggle (I'm sure that AV 7 will catch up with you soon enough!) ;D”
“To Smeats credit, that turned into a game of cat and mouse rather than elfbowl and he still had a long shot of the tie in turn 16. Most of the first half i was really on the ropes, but the elves didn't let me down when it mattered and equalised in turn 8.
Really close game against 2 evenly matched teams, which is what this league is about... :)
