Yes as Pras has said this was a great match!!

The fact it went into extra-time says it all, about how close these two teams were matched-up on the night.

The weather was Sweltering Heat for most of the game before going into Blinding Light in the Overtime Period.

This was a problem for both teams as we were both down on players. At least it was "fair weather" then :-)

Going into the match I was hoping that my two Ogres would continue to be as effective as always, they were assigned the task of disposing of the faster members of the Bops. Enabling the Gnoblars to then win the game.

Unfortunately I rolled 1 after 1 on the Ogres and they boneheaded there way through the game. To me that was the single decisive factor in the game. Yes Trees take root but with an MA of 2 they are out of most games anyway, my MA7 Ogres is always at the centre of the action, and is central to the gamestyle of this team.

Pras as always is very cautious in defence and deploys deep, which was tricky to get past, he also has the pace to exploit any breaks which he did in this game twice (fortunately the calculated crowdpush I did helped me take it into extra-time, otherwise it would have been curtains right there and then).

I enjoyed this game and am keen to get into my preseason friendlies!!

Any offers anyone????

#12 Nixie – Smashed Knee (NI)
Well sports fans, this was an exciting game and then some!

The Gang took the initial kick off down the field, and looked to be in for the score, until a botched pass was eventually recovered by Bops all-rounder Luna who ran bravely for the late score.

In the second, with heavily depleted teams, the Bops looked to secure the ball on the flanks, using their Treeladies as a front, and advance slowly, if at all. However, a wonderful piece of defensive play saw Donella ejected into the crowd after her own team-mate was sent crashing into her! The Gang's fans then threw the ball back into a reasonable position, and the Gang were able to take it downfield as the seconds drew to a close, for a late late touchdown.

Come overtime, the Bops won the toss and looked to have the advantage. Indeed, they ploughed their way downfield in a very stretched game, with star Donella eventually taking the ball home. Game over?! No! Bop celebrations were cut short when the referees pointed out that the half had to be played out!!!

After the subsequent Bops kick off, Donella took the initiative, seizing control of the football and running it all the way down the field, only to be tackled at the very last. Come the turn of the Gang, who proudly advanced the football back down the field, looking for another equalizer!

However, Donella managed to get herself back to her feet quickly and sprinted down the field to make a heroic tackle, ending the Gang's hopes there and then.

Of note were the extremely poor performances put in by the Gang's Ogres, who apparently did not like the extreme heat of the day. In the end, the weather may have been the deciding factor here.

The Bops advance to the SFL finals, though a few players will not be in attendence due to the labors of today's well-contested game.
