#8 Doomsday Device – Dead (RIP)
Science Gone Wrong's first loss was a close one. The first half saw the chaos on the opening drive, powering downfield a few steps at a time until they scored late. Though the dwarves had a chance to even up, they did not drive deep enough into the enemy territory and settled in to receive the second-half kick.

Not very much went well for Science Gone Wrong. The ball was fumbled on the pass attempt from midfield, then barely recovered and moved down into scoring range. However, a Chaos Warrior broke free of coverage and took down Mr Frankenstein just a few short meters from the endzone. The ball still ended up near some dwarves, but they did not have the pace to get the ball to safety and were once again blitzed off the ball, resulting in a warrior hurling the ball out to center field. During the straining attempts in the backfield, Doomsday Device was detonated by the Minotaur, sending him off in pieces.

Grey-Goo Nanotech and Thalidomide sprang into action, busting the ball loose from coverage. With time winding down, Grey-Goo Nanotech dodged under the clumsy tackles of a chaos warrior, scooped up the ball and with his eagle-eye, spotted Mr Frankenstein waving madly in the endzone. The pass launched from his arm was a perfect beautiful spiral, cutting through the air with absolute precision. The whole stadium fell silent in reverence to the awesome long-bomb. So spellbinding it was, in fact, that Mr Frankenstein just stood there grinning like a hobgoblin as in bounced off his helmet and into the crowd.

The win was a squeaker for Luppini. Had Science Gone Wrong experimented with better luck, they would surely have reached a draw.
