What followed in the remainder of the half of desperate defense by the Cult was described by fans as: "The worst teams I've seen since Division B Sevens competition" or "bloody awful, without the blood!" or "Those were the teams? I thought they were the players wives doing a charity lingerie match". Nothing went right for anyone. The ball was fumbled, passes missed, players tripped, strong blockers fell weakly at the feet of their opponents. Finally on turn 8, the Cult managed a pass play deep to Father Hastur, who had been unchecked in the backfield long enough to finish the lunch kindly thrown at him by a friendly halfling. Wiping the delicious icing from his fingers, Father Hastur charged across the line to give his team the lead into the second half.

The second half settled down a bit, but the chaos attack over-extended down the flank until a blitz knocked the ball into the crowd. A knife-fight erupted around the ball, ending with a cultist fan tossing a brilliant pass to the uncovered Spinebender half. Brother Nyogtha pounced on the bouncing pig-skin and rushed gleefully forward, far out of reach of any pursuit. Our reporter caught up with the rookie catcher after the match.
