The Babes' AG5 Blitzer niggled pre-match, taking one of the Greatest tags with her which unfortunately for Dolls, negated one of his handicaps.

The Popes started in offence, and then had a bad turn with the dice which ended their turn early. This allowed the Babes to bust their cage and then two dice blitz their ball carrier, knocking the ball free.

The Babes recovered the ball, but were forced to score as the Popes sent their defenders back in force.

The Popes then were able to penetrate strongly in offence (despite being Blitzed) and eventually set up a relatively easy score (needed a 3+ Catch with Catch Reroll, then needed a Pow on two dice on the Blitz (or would then need a 3+ dodge again, and a GFI as well if the Blitz was Skull/Pows).

The second half saw the Babes start in offence and they hit hard after being outhit in the first half (first half the Babes took 3 KOs to none). The Babes kept stunning players and caused a KO or two to keep the Popes on the back foot whilst they slowly advanced their cage.

The Popes set up their leap strip ball blitz at last only to realise at the last second that the Babes ball carrier has Sure Hands!

The Babes continued to control the ball and manouver their cage whilst the Popes kept up the pressure. The Popes had a 2 dice no tackle Blitz attempt on the Babe's ball carrier late in the game, but came up double skulls. The Babes were left with a two dice Blitz and then a 3+ Dodge (with reroll) to seal the win on their T16.

A good game by my opponent who kept me under pressure for most of the game. There were a couple of let-offs that gave me a couple of breahers. Eg, one time he didn't move all his players before going for the risky move and his turn ended very early. Also he kept focusing on trying to leap strip ball my ball carrier for several turns (trying to set it up) before realising I had Sure Hands and swapping to the more effective approach of crashing a cage corner and flooding with Tacklers/DT.

Once he did that, it got much harder to keep my cage strong and if he had done that earlier, perhaps I would not have scored, or would have been forced to score earlier to give him time to try a draw.

Anyways, it was still a tight game and I look forward to crossing paths with Dolls again sometime in the future.”
