“The Wise Men won the toss, elected to receive and went to work on Light. By turn four, four Light players were missing for the rest of the match and despite taking down the ball carrier and scoring the Light felt like they were losing. Once more the Wise Men handed out lessons in pain and once more the Light took down the ball carrier and scored to close out the first half 2-0.
Receiving with six players looked bad, the ball was closer to my end zone. Well the Light exploded off the line of scrimmage seriously injuring two orges and running two players back to hold the ball against airborne goblins that never came. The Wise Men surrounded the elves on the line of scrimmage (literally) and sent a speedy orge to chase down the ball carrier. Things looked bleak and the ones that had plagued the orges in the first half hit the elves in the second - I couldn't get an elf free to receive the ball and my back field wasn't big enough with the chasing orge closing down the angles. Making a break for it the ball carrier was brought down and the Wise Men looked in good position until a goblin fumbled the pick up and the ball disappeared into the crowd. Obviously cheering for the remaining four elves the crowd tossed the ball toward the prone Ares - who snatched it up and scored after blitzing down the pursuing goblin.
Three turns to defend against the score, well I tired my best and the four elves stood up well knocking out the ball carrying goblin who thought he was safe in the pocket. The Wise Men were not to be denied however with George Bernard Shaw scooping up the ball and running it in on the final turn.
Great game Nantti, I look forward to rematch (note to self bring more elves)
