The game was a big mismatch from the start, and as such, the Squamata Challenge took three handicaps from the Queens. Greatest, Bad Press and Illegal Drugs. Starting kick off goes the lizzies way with a pitch invasion stunning three elves and no lizardmen. The Wood Elves very first turn ended in disaster, with their ST4 Wardancer failing a leap with a reroll and badly hurting himself.

The Lizards caged by the sideline and edged forward. Surging for the line, a skink broke through, only to hit a 1 on a GFI! A lucky dodge from a nearby Elf who hadn’t noticed a skink throwing a diving tackle his way recovered the ball, and with a deft pass to U’van Mortain the thrower broke to the backfield. The Elves tied up the remaining Sauri to stop the last ditch tackle. Sprinting home, U’van made it one nil, much to the crowd’s disgust!

The Queens set up again and kicked to the Lizards left. Quickly retrieving the ball the lizards began a loose cage again, unsure of how to breach the Dancing Queens defence. A Saurus gave our captain a Fractured leg niggling injury, but luckily the apothecary was there in time. Then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, the two big guys clashed spectacularly! The Kroxigor ripped the branches off the Treeman badly hurting him, but in retaliation the Tree fell on the Kroxigor flattening him. The medic rushed on, but failed to pull him from under the leafy mess. The Kroxigor died instantly. The Lizards pushed forwards desperately but the drive ended with a tackle on the ball carrier to deny a score.

The second half started with just 8 Wood Elves and no apothecaries! The crowd were growing restless, and demanded blood!

Lining up to receive, the Wood Elves got ready to flood the backfield. Stopped in their tracks, Coach BigBroth pulled out a perfect defence and got bodies up on the loose Wood Elves. Still, the tricky Elves broke free and ran into position in the backfield. All the lizzies could do was get close, until inevitably the Elves clinically passed and scored, Seriously Injuring a skink on the way!

The kick off brought snow! Favouring one side the Lizardmen received in the cold, and the blodging Wood Elves proved very hard to take down. The super strong skink retrieved the ball and hid in a cage deep at the back of the pitch! Surrounding the cage, the persistant Elves readied to pound on skinks, but the larger Sauri cousins were having none of it! A steroid enhanced Saurus blitzed Foridas into the Badly Hurt box, meaning Coach cribble no longer had the problem of who was the greatest (with them both being badly hurt!).

A skink stunned the remaining wardancer, and they moved slowly for the endzone, fouling a prone catcher on the way. Some unusually poor dodging from the Queens left a hole for the Lizards to blitz through, and the Saurus once again rumbled into action! A cage formed around the skink looking to score, but was it too late for the Squamata to Challenge?!?

A ridiculous play from the Elves saw the Dancer leap into the middle of 3 Saurus and take the ball from the skink ballcarrier, and the prone U’van to make three dodges and a pass without an interception to the relative safety of a catcher nearby! Very unfair, and equally lucky!

Not as safe as he though, a frienzied Saurus smashed his face into the ground with some skinks assisting! Sadly, the ball came loose and bobbled into a waiting Sauri’s unsuspecting hands! Could they score, or was this failed from the very start? Short answer, yes! The Wood Elves threw very little at the Saurus, knowing they didn’t have enough strength to take him down, and instead choosing to stay alive and pick on easier targets. A speculative block on him led to a magnificent triple skulls block against! Couldn’t get any worse! Suffice to say, the Saurus ran it in unchallenged!

The lizzies kicked again, and stood off the advancing elves, which inevitably led to a third easy run in. Unpeterbed, the lizzies lined up for a one turn score, the elves happy to let them try and kept out the way. Everyone held their breath, and… it didn’t work, Queens win 3-1!

Great game, well played BigBroth! Look forward to the league encounter!!!
