“SWL Season XX - Premier League - Round 2

Despite their poor record against wood elves, the girls came into this match full of confidence after their first round win. With a large TR advantage, and a full squad for the match, things were looking up .... until the handicaps were rolled up. The only one that mattered was Iron Man, which naturally went to the only useful player on the team, Touchstone.

Winning the toss, we chose to kick. The elves, as expected, had no trouble scoring, despite giving away a free hit on the ball carrier. And in turn, we had plenty of time to make an equaliser. A Blitz! kickoff meant some risks had to be taken, but Loony Tossa and Bone Krasha were more than up to the challenge. By the time the elves realised what had happened, it was too late, and up the field we went. Bone Krasha wasn't willing to risk even a handoff on this drive, and with the perfection we've come to expect from such a star scored comfortably, right on the buzzer.

Now, by this stage, the elves were well and truly down on numbers. That didn't really bother them, because Touchstone was still there, and with iron man, was quite immune to anything we could throw at him. Things started quite well, and we moved fairly quickly up the pitch, dropping in a few very ineffective fouls on the guard elves. And that's when the trouble started. A foolish foul with one of the two guard zons on the pitch left an opportunity for touchstone to put in a 1d hit on the ball carrier, and that's just what he did.

We did recover the ball, but left things in an even worse position, and touchstone struck again (really should have tried to pop in a few more fouls on him, even if all they could to was stun). Touchstone grabbed the ball again, and when we went to recover it, rookie blitzer Skull Krusha found that nerves got the better of her, and dropped it into space instead. From there ... well, let's just say we were in trouble. Touchstone had no trouble collecting the ball, and handed it over to his teammate. And then double skulls on the re-rolled blitz by Bone Krasha sealed the match.

Final Score: 1-2

Not much to say about this one. Ironman saved his skin, and his skin saved the match. Let's just say that if he hadn't had iron man, it's unlikely he would have been on the pitch at all in the second half...

Both guard elves were critical in this match. Without them, Touchstone would never have gotten in the hits he did. I dunno which was actually more useful, but with kick as well, this one was the most annoying of them i think.

Well, he did score the game winning touchdown ... other than that, well, I didn't pay much attention to the rather young elf. I don't suppose I was the only one that was surprised when he managed to not only hold off a fierce blitz, but also send Bone Krasha to the ground.”
