“What a game!
The fans flocked inside Damocles Stadium to see this eagerly awaited clash of the preverbial titans!! Dark Elves verses their higher bretheren! However Damocles luck seemed to have run out on them as their star player Lance Corporal Wolf sat the game out on the niggling bench...

After receiving the kickoff a down-hearted Damocles team soon turned the ball over and Metashadows opened their account. It didn't look good but the panic had not spread to the damocles dressing room....at least not yet! A quickfire return score saw El Matedor pick up his first.

However it soon went rapidly downhill for the home team. By the time the half time whistle blew the Damocles were 3-1 down and looking down the barrel of a sound thrashing....especially with the prospect of kicking off in the second half.

Things did not improve in the second half as Metashadows showed their formidable attcking verve once more! By turn two of the second half the score was now 4-1. It looked bleak. Fans were already leaving the stadium (that probably explains the low winnings!!). However this match still had a twist in its tail!

After receiving the kickoff a routine move by Damocles saw El Borracho ('The Drunk') pull one back by half way through the second half. A meer consolation surely....(!)

But now something had happened. The tide had turned. Lady luck was no longer pandering to the Metashadows team. On going for the Damocles line a Metashadows witch elf fell over and soon the ball had moved swiftly from the hands of El Fez to El Bob and once more into the safe grip of El Matedor who ran in to score his second. It was now turn 6 and Damocles had salvaged some pride.

However this was not the end of the excitement. A risky pass by a stand-in Metashadows thrower went to ground and deep in his own half El Bob once more set a flawless, beautiful long pass in motion to the waiting hands of El Matedor who skipped past the last defender to complete his hat-trick and level the scores!! 4-4!!!! One turn left!! At least a draw was salvaged!!

However one more jolt of excitement hit the crowd as Damocles got a blitz straight from the kickoff!! The High Elves stormed forward in what was now a hopeful, gung-ho final push! A now worried and flustered Metashadows closed ranks and resorted to caging the ball deep in their own half. A last gasp attempt to blitz the ball carrier failed and the ref blew his whistle. It was over and the crowd rose to their feet! An astonishing match and a great comeback from the jaws of defeat!! Cheers Meta for a great game! Will the rematch be as exciting?! :-)”
