“The dodgers went into the last game of the season against Big and Small in a match for the title.

A win or draw for the dodgers would be enough, but Big and Small could draw level on points if they won and win the title on head to head results.

This was the closest game my dodgers had all season, making a fitting climax really even though neither side scored heh.

The ogres won the toss and chose to receive. Coach Bigkahunas plan soon became clear. ... Receive first and try and remove all the skinks from the field :O
By the final seconds of the half he succeeded in that aim, but spent most of the half on the front foot blocking wise, but on the back foot controlling the ball which swapped hands several times.
A last desperate but very amusing attempt to throw a goblin who had already moved directly into the touchdown zone failed leaving it 0-0 at the end of the half.

2nd half and the Dodgers received. Despite getting blitzed they were able to get hold of the ball easily enough and set about trying to get good field position.

Knowing a draw was good enough the lizards trying to maintain ball controll while manauvering forward. The ogres kept up constant pressure and both sides ate up their rerolls as things got very close.

Inching forward and slowly leaving prone ogres behind the lizard cage then broke and tryed to form a semi cage on one flank within scoring range.

The ogres clamped down on it very well tho with good play and good dodging putting 3 tacklezones on the ball carrier.
Some more pushin by lizards free him up only to form another cage 1 square forward as we got back into the trenches not wanting to risk a failed dodge.

Again the ogres and goblins closed this time their positioning even tighter as we went into the last turn.

The dodgers then blizted 1 of the 2 remaning gobbos to try and stop him from potentially TTM'n next turn. The ball carrying skink then handed off to another who was in a tacklezone (caught!) This skink than made 2 dodges away thro ogres... and sprinted for the link, no reroll... GFI... TRIP!

No score for me, but with the scatter not kind, no TTM attempt either.

0-0 and the Dodgers win the title for the 2nd Season Running.

Team Captain Crash had this so say after the game.

"We worked as a team... we played good, and it was all good and i think we did pretty good, you know we need to give 110% of ourselves against those Ogres cos they played good too. We just had to show heart and character and give it 110% out there"
