#14 Grimey George – Dead (RIP)

It's always a bit hit and miss with niggles on the two star players - we'd had a good run with them till now but the virus finally came round and Groth and Mork were both unavailable in this one. Fortunately we won the coin toss though which gave us first crack at things. With the usual ball handlers absent Ron Ghastly got his big break and lined up in the backfield to receive the kick. Unfortunately he wasn't making the most of it - failing the first turn pickup then fumbling a short pass in the second, resulting in a scrap centerfield for the loose ball. Billy Blender was showing good form, KO'ing one beast then following up shortly after smashing Auris' collarbone. Turn 4 and Ghastly makes up for early mistakes by recovering the loose ball and breaking for the end zone. Theatre start the stall but the beasts are having none of it, Blender is knocked to the ground and Vepres steps in with a boot that puts him in the KO box. Ron Ghastly runs the TD in on turn 6 giving Schola 3 turns to score an equaliser.

Schola start the drive ok and it looks like they have a chance until Bellua makes a big mistake on the LOS in turn 7, not spotting Grimey George who trips him up as he attempts to get in the play. In the subsequent confusion Dominus Quod surprisingly fails to call for the long bomb despite being just within range of a potential TD, and the Theatre go into half time leading 1 - 0.

Theatre line up in the 3-5-3 defence and manage to get the jump on Schola with a blitz, taking the opportunity to man up on the beastmen. The big fella Vis looks to be having a rough night, and when he skulls on his block it gives the Theatre the chance to swoop on the ball. Axe picks it up and hands off to Jack Gnash who runs it in for the TD on turn 3.

The crowd is getting restless, and at the start of the next drive a loon from the crowd throws a boulder and hits Dominos Quod with near fatal results, the apothecary forced to step in to save him. Vis, trying to make up for his lack of impact thus far, winds up and delivers a crunching hit on Grimey George, killing him outright. Schola send a flood of beastmen into scoring range, and despite the best efforts to mark them all Bellator II ends up running in to score on turn 6 of the second half.

Theatre up 2 - 1, with 3 turns remaining, but only 9 players fit to take the field. Fortunately Ron Ghastly had overcome his early game jitters and calmly scoops up the ball after the kickoff. With the team outnumbered, he plays it safe and dashes to cover near the sideline behind the two fleshies. Thanks to a couple of breaks Theatre manage to get away with the 2 - 1 win despite the absence of the big guns.

#12 Auris – Smashed Collar Bone (-ST)
Game 26

A fantastic start for Schola with the 2 Necromantic stars missing the game due to a virus. A mishandled ball saw Schola with the chance to nick the ball off Aberration by turn 2. Some good blocking by the Necros saw the ball back in their hands, swiftly followed by Vis managing to knock himself over, giving the ball carrier a clear run to the endzone. A standard chaos drive ended with a fumbbl on the critical handover, leaving Schola 1 down come second half.

A blitz on the kickoff gave Aberration Theatre a good start to stopping Schola, which was helped along immensely by Vis knocking himself over for the second time in the game. This allowed a swift grab by the Necro's, resulting in a 2-0 score by T3 in the second half. Some elf ball saw the score at 2-1 by turn 6, leaving Schola 2 turns to attempt to steal the ball and equalize. An unforeseen Flesh Golem roadblock put the ball firmly out of reach, leave the score 2-1, and a good win for Aberration Theatre.
