OCCS

Perhaps one of the wierdest games ever seen. Certainly the dark elves won the game. T4 of the second half...the dark elves in possession of the ball, the scored tied 1-1 and only TWO pro elves left on the first. 5 other pro elves were in the KO box - the rest in the CAS boxes (multiple CAS were self-inflicted from failed dodges). So the dark elves - seeing an opportunity for more spp from scoring than just stalling out the rest of the game - scored with 4 turns remaining to take a 2-1 lead...then things got wierd.

4 of the 5 players that were KOed woke up...so it was 6 pro elves vs 11 dark elves as the ball was kicked off. The dark elves blitzer failed to drop the pro elf catcher and with the team RR gotten from the kickoff roll, Circle scored in 2 turns to tie it again at 2-2. Still 2 turns remained however...the last pro elf woke up and a dark elf that had been KOed stayed out and suddenly, it was 7 pro elves against 10 dark elves with 2 turns left. The dark elves first 2d block was a push, but they accidently followed up and the next block was a 1d block by mistake - and of course - SKULL. The sudden turnover gave the pro elves another chance and they streaked downfield. Anika blitzed a dark elf out of the way and grabbed the ball...every block worked for the pro elves and the dark elves were in a bind...they blitzed with a lineman against Anika - 2d block was double pow/skull. Another turnover and Anika blitzed through to score the T16 TD.

Down 11 to 2 players with 4 turns left...somehow Circle scores 2 two-turn TDs to steal a game they had no rights winning!

Well played, just amazing bad luck right at the end!

I will be the first to admit that i had my share of good fortune in the first 12 turns, almost every block worked (be it 1d or 2d), and the proelfs armor was bridle as glass. The last 4 turns were like taken out of some Bloodbowl nightmare, from complete control, over weeping confusion to quiet acceptence of defeat... But i blame myself, an unprecedented combination of greed, and lack of concentration, lightly garnished with an unbelivable (though not undeserved) change of luck, and the end result was almost poetic. I will keep this game with me, for many tournaments to come, as a sharp and painfull reminder never to let my guards down.
