“<b><u>Albion Regional Challenge 10/07 - round 1</u></b>
Gothem Geckos faced the Church of the Damned in the first round of the Albion Regional Challenge. It was with some concern the Geckos lined up. Although not trained to stop agile little skinks the chaos team had plenty of bashers and in their ranks was the huge brute Saint Muuuh. The little Cuaquax was so afraid of the minotaur that he didn't even show up for the match.

The Geckos won the kickoff, but the opponents had prepared well and lined up a perfect defense. Despite this the saurus bashed through their LOS and lined up a gangfoul on Saint Muuuh. A skink runner charged in to attack the downed opponent, but couldn't cause more than a stun.

Churched Of the Damned tried to make their way through the saurus lines, but forgot to protect their flanks. This allowed Chiquet to make his way past the LOS with the ball, followed by some saurii to guard his back. They stalled near the end zone line while the rest of the team tried to hold the opponents away.
It worked like a charm for a long while, but suddenly the chaos team was consumed by bloodlust and tore through the saurii. In a few moments two of the saurii and Huanhuan the kroxigor were knocked out.

By now the clock was running out and Chiquet could comfortably walk in 1 - 0 for the Geckos. Church Of the Damned got a chance to bash the LOS before the time was out, but it didn't lead to anything.

For the second turn the Gecko staff had managed to shake life in the two saurii, but Huanhuan was still out cold, a severe blow to the team defense.

The match got going and the Geckos lined up to a deep defense. Gormazda was fouled out, but they scored a revenge when the skink Goqtoc made a ferocious charge on Evil. He would likely have died if the apothecary hadn't rushed in.

After shaking off some skinks Jonathan now moved along the right flank with the ball, but the skinks were on fire. Chiccinzi came running from the front while Ecitza blitzed him in the back, stunning the beastman. The ball scattered into the waiting hands of Ciccinzi and the crowd roared in delight.

It didn't take more than a second until a chaos warrior was upon him, sending him sprawling on the grass. But Ecitza snatched the ball up from between the chaos warriors legs and rushed to safety behind the Geckos defensive line. The two skinks had made a heroic effort, but one part of the duo was lost when Chiccinzi knocked himself out on a failed dodge.

With the time running out the Church Of the Damned had to rely on high risk maneuvers to recover the ball. Evil rushed through the defenses and tried to blitz Ecitza, but with blood flowing into his eyes from the earlier injury he slipped and fell in the grass. Ecitza made a charge with the ball, but even if he was stopped by a chaos warrior the opponents had lost their chance of a tie.

As if to celebrate the victory the often so criticised Conqua-uax grabbed the beefed up but lightly armored beastman Diamond and headbutted him with brutal force. It turned out to be the end of valuable players career.

The Geckos won in the first round, avoided injuries and now has a fantastic position in round 2, where they will meet either a necro team or a band of vicious dark elves.
