My last game of the season and needed a victory to have even the slimmest chance to win the newbie devision. Playing vs one of the top teams so a critical game.
The Deites did what they had to, but the Heroines where up to the task. Countered my every move, some timely luck with a long pass in the sun and they earned a well deserved victory.
Azure was a true sport and went for the win rather than the tie, even though it game me a chance for the win, and he even allowed me to have an outside chance to tie the game. A true sport in all respects and symbolic of the coaches I have played in this League so far.
So wishing all my fellow coaches a good run and looking forward to next season in the Fringe division!

A game of two halves. We struggled mightly in the first half. The beastmen caged and moved downfield - but we collapsed the cage and thought we had them...but a long blitz, a handoff, a dodge and some gfi. Boy oh boy was the sidelines dismayed...the crowd went wild and showed their support with a vicious rock that smashed the ankle of our catcher - if not for the apothecary...

Well, down 1-0, we had a chance to push upfield, but our thrower fumbled the pass and 4+ pickup and dodge for the beastmen and they were going for the 2-0 lead. Suddenly we were in prevent mode - almost everyone rushing back to try to contain the threat...we got the ball back, but with the offense in shambled a failed dodge and we could not score. Frustrated, the coached did a great job of getting the players ready for the second half.

A deep kick and injury time caused more worry - but we saw an opening...so we gave the play - a 4+ pass (due to sun) from a blitzer to a catcher - and she broke into the open. A dodge and gfi ended in a POW, but the heroines rose to the challenge with 2 important dodges made, a pickup and gfi and it was 1-1. Plenty of time remained...the chaos caged up again, but we threw everything at them and made the play of the game...a 2 gfi 1d blitz got a pow (after using RR), and the ball was free...a 4+ pickup (no RR left) and dodging away and we were in the clear...however, 3 more dodges later and we had the ball protected. Without RRs the chaos failed the dodge as they tried to get a blitz on the ball and we scored for the 2-1 lead. Still 2 turns remained for the chaos - but we got a blitz and caught the ball...and though we failed to score - with no RRs, the chaos failed to come up with the long bomb on the final play.

Well played and enjoyable! Thanks for the game and good luck next season!
