“Quick and relatively painless this one. Penumbral's brief flirtation with the fumbbl cup was firmly put to bed in this one. Looking at Bands and Stars i think i went into the game as the underdog (reflected more in ts than tr). With four tackle, 3mb, 6dp i was always going to take some damage, and with the count playing and the elves falling 5000 short of affording wizard, the prospect of getting the ball from the undead was a tricky one. Metallica the Frenzy, Diving Tackle, Block, Guard Mummy was a particular concern and i envisaged many an elf getting tied up. I had thought (especially with av8) that my st4 elf could try and arrange a gang foul early on to quell that threat.
I gave away a handicap to start and got stung badly. Virus took out 3 elves the +st dodge, block, guard lino, my 'utility' thrower with dp and strip ball and a block guard lino. This made me (imo) a big underdog. 11 elves against 6dp. Not good. I elected to recieve, i thought getting points on the board might be the best policy. Kick off saw 3 elves pitch invaded. 6 rolled blocks from the elves saw just push backs in the first turn. Then, undead 1st turn 1 ko, 1 stun, elf 2nd turn no pows. undead 2nd - 2ko's etc. By turn 5 i had only 3 elves left, however managed to make a break with the two ag5 players to put a witch elf 1 sq from the endzone. The wight failed a gfi allowing the witch to score. Only 1 ko recovery left the elves with only 5 to defend three turns for the undead to equalise. They duly did and 7 elves took to the field at 1-1 in the second half. The undead then ground down the elves such that in the 7th undead turn only the apoth could stop a cleared field. In the eighth turn the undead fouled again. Risking " ; ) " going into overtime, the elf was stunned and the ref did the right thing in overlooking the infringement to allow the undead to stroll in the winning td. I took 1/3/0 cas and also about 12!ko's. The elves were very well beaten. Humiliated. The fact they weren't cleared from the field is the only reason they can hold their heads up at all. This match regrettably didn't do justice to the fumbbl cup third round, or to the elves how have played well in recent times. Well played, Strawberrykiss, good luck in the oncoming games, I see the chaos I Expect You To Die! have also succumbed.”
