#10 Urswick – Dead (RIP)
Round 1 of 145 Rookie Cup IX

This was a truly brutal game of Blood Bowl that must have brought smiles to the faces of the Enlisted Men and Epping Forest Elves. On Caution-Very Fragile's first turn they BHed one woodie and KOed another (Quintus wouldn't regain conciousness all game). Their wisdom in starting with an apothacary was rewarded the next turn when he stopped Run Away from being fouled to death.

Caution-Very Fragile opened the scoring on turn 7 with only one pro-Elf blitzer BH and a wood elf KOed in the rest of the first half. Both KOed woodies failed their two attempts to regain consciousness so the Arden Wolves were outnumbered 10 to 8 at the beginning of the second half.

A both down on the first block of the Wolves' first turn knocked out a Pro Elf, but allowed his teammates to swarm the wood elf line of scrimmage MNGing Dion. With two players stunned and three tied up on the line of scrimmage the Arden Wolves didn't have enough players to protect the ball handler, who was blitzed by Broken Leg, the pro-elf blitzer's block skill allowing him to pick a both down with impunity.

Help Me then picked up the ball from two woodie tackle zones, dodged out, and passed to No Fouls, who dodged past a defender and went for it twice to make the score 2-0.

Both sides recovewred 1 KO so Arden Wolves were outnumbered 10-8 again, but they had the ref in their pocket and used this to try to even up the pitch, KOing one lineelf on turn 3 and MNGing one on turn 4. Strong Not of Caution-Very Fragile decided to show the Wood Elves how to foul properly, killing Urswick, but the ref saw fit to send him off. The Wood Elves immediately got their vengence with Reynaldo blitzing No Head to death on the very next activation. There was still time for Albany to be MNGed by the Pro Elves before Aguecheek went for it twice to bring the score to 2-1 on the Arden Wolves' sixth turn.

Neither of the KOed players woke up, so both sides lined up with six elves. With no rerolls left Caution-Very Fragile started decided to clean up the line of scrimmage before using their only free player to pick up the ball. A double skull on the third block put pay to that plan, but Reynaldo failed to pick up the unguarded ball for the Wolves on turn 7.

I'm Coward moved next to both Reynaldo and the ball, but was badly hurt by Bavian's turn 8 blitz. Reynaldo now just had to pick up the ball and go for it twice to take the match into overtime with the woodies having a one elf advantage. It was not to be however as he fell over trying to enter the end zone.

The ball scattered into the crowd and the throw in was kind to Caution-Very Fragile allowing Broken Leg to pick up the ball, go for it twice and short pass the ball to No Fouls who had moved upfield the previous turn for just such an eventuality. No Fouls caught the ball and strolled into the endzone to make it 3-1 to Caution-Very Fragile.

Congratulations to McVily for the win. I hope he does well in the tournement, although he may have his work cut out as, unless he hires freebooters he will be shorthanded for his second round game.
