“RRR round 2 for my new undead! We're facing orcs who managed not to rack up any skills or even an apo after poor winnings in their first game.

The orcs advance slowly with the ball while we look for a way through. On our 2nd turn we try a 1dice blitz with our ghoul vs the enemy troll (mostly to stop him punching us back!) but also to get near the ball - but he manages a skull twice and ends up badly hurt!

The orcs push through with the ball safely in the hands of their little goblin and it's all we can do to get a tackle zone on him - not that it slows the orcs down for long and they free him and run him right down to the endzone. In the meantime my dwarf runner 'recruited' in our first game has taken a niggling injury and another rookie zombie has been killed! We are helpless to stop them scoring in their final turn, and with our 2 in the KO box not waking up have only 7 to set up. Hopefully a half time kicking will get them out of there- and indeed our head coach stomps in and gives them both the kind of kicking that can literally wake up the dead!

We set up 9 to receive in the 2nd half vs all 11 orcs. Come on- we need to get some casualties here! We push through nicely (BHing their thrower too) and score on turn 4. They have a blitzer KO'd too now so it's 9v9 and we have a RR while they don't- hopefully it costs them some key turnovers!

A perfect defence and a kick to only a couple squares from the middle makes things dodgy for the orcs! They punch a few zombies out but we take things in stride and knock down both orcs over the ball and then grab it with our ghoul and run downfield- there's only the goblin at the back to stop him! When a blizter tries to dodge back to take down the ghoul he slips up (yay no rerolls for the orcs!) and we're able to run in the touchdown to make it 2-1! The orcs have 3 turns to get it back.

They clear space around their troll and move the goblin up next to him- looks like they are setting up to try and toss him downfield next turn! However he drops the catch that a blitzer tosses over to him so we pile in a couple players around the ball to try and secure the win. The orcs try some desperate moves - anything to make that last minute touchdown possible - but their attempt fails when their gobbo can't pick up the ball (he still had some passing into a tackle zone to try!)

Cheers for the game- it was a challenge after taking 3 casualties in the first few turns!”
