“UI IV Qualifier: Obsidian Lantern

It was time for the final. Lone Stars had made it all they way to the final to face off with a very dangerous Skaven team Divine Assassins who had in there first qualifying game defected the current Warpstone Open champions Extraordinary Brotherhood. Both teams had stacked up on help with wizzard. Morg was hired by Lone Stars and Headsplitter by Divine Assassins.

The game started out with the rats kicking to the chaos. A quick cas and lone stars gapped the ball and moved it to the scrimmage line in a cage. Headsplitter proved to be the better star as he quickly disposed of his rival Morg. With Morg in the cas box Hedsplitter was left uncontested. As the Chaos advanced thou the rats where taking some more damage. Fanatic decided it was time to fire off the wiz at the chaos cage and it left them all lying around but one. Now things wend quick as they can do when you face skavens. The one standing player was soon blocked down and a gutter seized the ball and handed it off to another gutter that quickly ran it out of reach for the chaos. The chaos could do little to stop the rats from scoring in there turn eight. So instead they focused on getting a few more rats out in the KO box.

Second half started with chaos kicking to the rats. Luckily for Lone Stars only one of the 3 rats in the KO box came back. So the rats started second dive by being outnumbered 9 to 11. Chaos made good use of the kick skill, kicking short and to the side where the rats had few players. A Lucky Blitz and the chaos was in possession of the ball with a cage around this time no wiz left for the rats to save it. Now followed a half of rather uneven play by coach Qaz and some brilliant play involving chain pushes by Fanatic who managed to knock the ball loose no less than 3 times but each time the scatter did not go the right way for the rats. Some more bash followed and Chaos managed to score in turn 8.

Over time. Having taken 6 KOs and having 5 out in the cas box the rats needed every man they could get. Luckily they got 5 of the KOs back starting again 9 vs. 11. What was worse for them was that they got to kick the ball. The crowd decided to intervene and invaded the pitch leaving 1 rat stunned and 5 chaos players. Things suddenly didn’t look so great for Lone Stars for a moment. But coach Qaz bettered on his play form the second half and made good use of the reminding 6 players he had and managed to get the ball in a cage using his own prone players for defence. So now with possession of the ball and the rest of the players back up it was just too much for the Divine Assassins who got grinded down while the chaos machine caged the ball down the field scoring in turn 8. The Assassins now had a single chance of chain pushing for the one turn TD but at this crucial time the rat ogre decided to let out a fearsome roar instead of blocking and the game ended 2-1 in favour of Lone Stars.
