#14 Nicolaz II – Serious Concussion (-AV)
Hmm... my thoughts before the tournament are quite easier to describe, then the game itself.
Wow, what me has been nervous. I really am not used to play against lizards. Especially a team full of 8 st4 and more break tacklers combined with stunty guys. I didnt saw any way to stall, so quick score was the only option, i guessed. Fortunatly Optihut might have thought the same.
Still i have no idea how i got rid of all those sf, st4, bt Sauri but somehow i managed it.

What to say else? Oh yes, the game itself =D:
Game started... and my hope was destroyed and smashed down to the ground as both niggler DPs refused to show up. I saw in them the only chance to get all those skinks out. The handicap "Knuckledusters" scared my gutters so much, because it was given to a st5 tackle sauri... oh hell. What a bad start.

Coin Flip: My choice - me recieve... and the fans gone wild and managed to hold the ref down the very first moment in the game.
3 Turns and two fouls later, one Sauri was transported to the CAS Box and one was booted: Fortunatly one of the two Tackle guys. What was I surprised, as the BH was worth a doctor in Optis view of the game. Now i understand his reason.
I scored, and got lucky as the chainpush was rerolled and his superskink didnt managed to take the ball. Two Turns later enough Gutters around the ball and score. 2-0

Now a quite short kick later, Opti was forced to cage middlefield. It would have been a great time for the WIZ, but i missed it. But quite on the contrary i didnt needed him, cause i managed to get the ball lose. Hmmm.. next to Kroxi, damn. But i didnt care and tried to score. Pickup fail, Optis turn.
He got the ball, has throwen it and succesful 2 - 1 (1.H 6/6).

Quite defense deep down def- setup of Opti let me gain enough squares to have 4 players in scoring range and two fouls later, Kroxi and Silibili were sent off to sleep in the KO Box. Unfortunatly they came back in the second half. 3 - 1 and Opti tried to Oneturn but was tackled down by Nuffle.

2nd Half: He scored, and i dont remember how. I think it was the Sauri Touchback score right now, but im not sure. How ever, it was 3-2 and me was in for Oneturning to keep the distance between the score. My OT tripped the very last square (even in a nice quicksnap) and he recovered the ball.
Wiz helped at this situation and the fans were nice enough to gimme the ball back... any other result, would have been quite a nasty pass, but it worked well: 4-2. Opti still didnt gave up and one player after another was send to BH and KO: 4-3.
OTScore: 5-3.
That was the moment, were I did the greatest fault in the game. I thought I have won already, my DEF setup was crap and the LOS blodge gutter gave him easy going to oneturn to 5-4. Twice the chance for Injury time and once the chance for blitz... not that this has been impossible.... and additionally to that, he almost fooled me out with his sidestep TOP SKink at the LOS and my Rat Ogre almost fell down on this Boobytrap.
Hmm... damn, another fault later, he managed to get enought guys ready to chainpush his way through and i think, only the last dodge failed this.
It would have been the awesomest draw, i had ever seen.

What an unbelievable thrilling game.
A tourneygame i will remember and im quite happy to won this. At my point of view, I nuffled again... but still "good game", mate. Thanx for your great skill and for teaching me, by any means neccessary: never to give up. Wow, my Keyboard gots that excited feeling, too and now has switched to english mode.... damn, how to I get mz old german Kezboard back_ And where is the damn question mark<>? Ahh... found it.
Well... thats worth it. Now i have an english kezboard.... hmm how to make a smilz now? :-\ hmmm dunno. But it does not matter. This was an awesome game!

OMG! This was one of the best games I have ever played. Very, very intense and great bloodbowl all around (despite a distinct lack of crowdpushes and few fouls).

I dare say that a score of 5-4, especially without OT, is rather unusual for a major. In fact, I am surprised and pleased that my lizards were able to keep up with the rat's pace.

The game started in a very good way - both dirty players of the rats were too nervous to play, while all 3 of my niggling injury players stayed in the game. However, the rats got the ref.

I used the apo on a badly hurt on one of my two tackle sauri. Normally I don't do this, but since this was a cup game, different rules apply. The rats managed to score 2-0 quickly and I thought this would be it. With a daring skink pass I was able to score once in the first half as well, though.

Initially I pulled off my usual crowd pushing antics - dodging into 2 zones and trying to push a guy 2 squares for a final block into the crowd. I used up 4 players and a reroll for this and it still didn't work. Afterwards I reconsidered - there's no place for nonsense like that in a cup.
I also made a mistake by committing too many players to the LOS. One time when I got the quicksnap, I actually withdrew everyone and was then able to score in 2 rounds:

In the next half I somehow got a touchback and scored with my +ST tackle saurus in 2 rounds. I can't really remember the sequence of touchdowns here. Anyway, eventually it was 3-2 for the rats and I managed to steal the ball, due to a failed gfi. However, the wizard intervened and the Rogre managed to get a pow on my superskink (+ST +MA +AG side step).
I made a mistake by choosing to step next to the side line. The ball was thrown in right back to the other gutter runners, who were then able to score. I think eventually the score was 5-3, with merely 2 rounds to go.
Injury time, OTS, followed by a blitz would have catapulted me right into overtime. Fortunately AoP-Vimes set up in such a way that I could indeed one turn score (thanks for that awesome guide, Falesh!). With one round to go, I could still manage to get the equalizer with a blitz!

Instead, I got the perfect defense. I set up in such a way that the rogre could push my superskink 2 spaces forward, enough for me to score. Sadly, AoP-Vimes didn't bite and so it was my last round...

There was still a small chance that I could pull off a sequence of chainpushes thanks to my frenzy saurus. Alas, that didn't quite pan out, which is a shame, because I would have had 3 Rerolls, a wizard and the numerical advantage for the overtime.

Still, it was a fantastic game and a pleasure to play in a major for once. Good luck with the rest of the tournament, Aop-Vimes!
