“Orcland Wooden Shield 07/08

The Isengard Desolates made it to the final of the Orcland Wooden Shield despite being given bad odds by the booking agencies. There they met their worst possible opponents, amazons. The Desolates got booted from the Reikland Rookie Cup by amazons, in a match that was so embarassing that they nearly disbanded, and now they faced a tougher band of amazon, beefed up with unnatural strength, two dirty players and an evil fireball wielding coach in Azure, who I have never been able to defeat.

The match started with one of the weakest fouling orgies in the OCC history. Each side ganged up on the other, stomping and smashing on the prone targets without causing more than slight headaches on their victims. Fortunately for the audience the referee was an old dirty man and spent so much time looking at the scantily clad amazons that he forget to eject the foulers.

The fouling went on and the greenskins started losing some players due to KO's. Their only favorable foul looked to be lethal, but the downed Shadona was saved by the apothecary.

The amazon now outnumbered the orcs and made their offensive move, badly injuring the black orc Burznash in the process. The fouler Kuol also got to taste his own medicine when he was knocked out by a low kick, and the amazons could run in a T7 TD.

The Desolates attempt to hurt the amazons for the rest of the half failed miserably and instead the apothecary had to be used to save Vuurz from a bad injury.

In the second half the Desolates could field their last 11 men, while the merciless GWM had reserves to spare. Shadona, who had previously been saved by the apo, was now injured again on the LOS. The orcs began their drive, but suddenly a huge flame of fire bursted up in their cage. Kulwat, the thrower, was set ablaze and ran screaming off the pitch, hurling himself into the crowd where he died of his injuries. Shortly after the goblin Ukwimp was bashed by one of the amazons and Erkkash was knocked out on a foul.

The remaining Desolates managed to kick the prone Becky in the ribs, cracking them and removing her from the game, before running in a TD.

Unfortunately it left the amazons with plenty of time to field another offensive drive, and this time the greenskins defenses crumbled fast. The opponents could score, and during the Desolates desperate last drive the team was so exhausted that they had to spend all their energy not giving away another TD.

A win for the Girls Without Mercy, who lived up to their name and earned the trophy.
