After 5 losses in a row vs Azure I didn't have much hope for this one, facing a strong amazon team with scary skink hunters and two dirty players, and with enough blodge to keep my one tackling saurus badly outnumbered.

The Geckos, who had been in a state of slow rebuild since their win in the Middenheim Challenge almost a year ago, found their recipe for success though. A marvellous individual performance from the skink Hexitza, who scored 2 TD's and a fatality, enough to single handedly secure the win for the team.

In the first half made a spectacular blitz on the ball carrier, snatched up the ball and ran in the TD early in the match. In the second half he stopped a TD by crowd surfing the ball carrying Trinity, impaling her on the spiked fence surrounding the pitch, and later sprinted across the field to lead the offensive drive, ending in a stall to secure the victory.

For the amazons it was a grim defeat, with key tackles and dodges ending in failure. They made a heroic attempt to stop the last TD, but again fell to the skinks.

The Geckos now await their second round opponents, which will be either terrifying chaos dwarves or greenskins. No matter how the outcome it will be a tough challenge and the lizardmen were lucky to walk out of this one unharmed.
