“The Very Superior Old Pips took on the Leather Clad Waste Layers in a very intense match. VSOP were first on offence, but made a gruesome mistake during their first turn, leaving their ball carrier almost completely without protection. The LCWL blitzed him effectively and surrounded the prone ball carrier and the ball. Luck was on the Pip side though, because they were able to block away a few players from the ball making it possible for Prettyfinger Noblechin to make some important rolls in enemy tackle zones, grab the ball and pass it to Whimper Proudfoot, who ran the ball for the touchdown.

The following drive by the LCWL was halted very quickly as they fumbled with the ball for two turns in a row and the Pips stormed the ball. Several turns of hard fighting near the ball followed, with both sides failing blocks. In the end Greenleaf Wispcloud was able to blitz himself out a tight spot, grab the ball and run for the second touchdown of the game.

The LCWL still had time to score, but this time an unlucky block at the beginning of their drive brought the attack to a temporary halt. The Pips tried to storm the ball, but were repelled by the Dark Elf players. The LCWL grabbed the ball and got it one turn away from the TD line. Then the Pips finally were able to blitz the ball carrier and surround the ball, making it hard enough for the LCWL to score. Half-time came with 2-0 on the boards.

The second half was a one drive half which started very poorly for the LCWL. Their thrower failed his GFI (double 1s) and was knocked over next to ball, which scattered away. The Pips immediately took advantage of this and grabbed the ball for themselves. The Pips moved quickly towards the LCWL endzone, but were eventually stopped by a successfull (and lucky) blitzing. During the next few turns the elves fought for the ball intensely and the LCWL came on top this time. They got the ball to their awaiting blitzer who ran the ball for the 2-1 touchdown which ended up as the final score.

A grand victory for the elves this time. Thanks to my opponent for a fun game. Luck was definitely on my side today in critical situations, which guaranteed the win in this one. It could have easily gone the other way.”
