“Semi-final of Pit Rat Cup II

After steamrolling the poor Overt Skavengers in the first round Gothenburg Gitz faced a lot tougher competition in the reigning champions Chaotic Cycos. A very well developed team with some fantastic key players for both offense and defense led by a skilled coach didn't bode well. The one chance the greenskins had was their advantage in heavier bashers and more armor. As it would turn out though, this was just an advantage on paper...

The Gitz also managed one of the worst bribes in Blood Bowl history, paying the ref to let them start with the ball (handicap), but then facing an ejection on Spit during his first foul. Despite landing a BH on a beastman right off the bat the Gitz soon found themselves outbashed. The seemingly non-bashy Cycos ripped through armor with their blows in a most disturbing way. It mostly ended in KO's and stuns, but that's enough to achieve a dominant position on the pitch.

Fueled by the scary tentacle beast Leatherface as a defensive specialst and the frenzied hulk of a beastman Fist to harass the ball carriers the Gitz offensive drive quickly grinded to a halt, and following that they found themselves on defense. The chaos team didn't make any mistakes and managed to achieve a 1-0 lead just before the half time break.

This is where the Gitz got lucky. All four knocked out players were in shape to play in the second half. But despite having their players back the Gitz faced yet another wall of muscle and fists in the second half. Smirk da Exakutiona was nearly killed early on the defensive drive, but the apothecary was sent in to save his life. The Cyco's were dominating the pitch yet again, since they never failed their tactical maneuvers, and soon the score was 2-0.

The Gitz now launched a desperate offensive move. The rookie Dizzy da Unlucky Git was brought out for a gob throw. He had been picked at random from the back staff after Wikka was squished to death during the first round and he didn't look happy for being put on the pitch. The ball was served to him, but Da inkredible Ulk had misunderstood the tactics completly. The bulky troll thought that he was meant to score by running in a TD instead of throwing, and smacked Dizzy to the ground and picked up the ball himself. With his teammates standing around him screaming in frustration to give the ball back to the goblin the opponents could knock down the blitzer Smirk and finished the job they started at the beginning of the period. They stomped and hacked at his body until only a red pulp remained.

The Gitz never got their second chance. When Ulk returned the ball to the dizzy Dizzy the chaos had move in and quickly blitzed him down, and after that the ref blew his whistle.
