“I was lucky to get away with a draw in this game. The game started out ok. I got Morley's and Virus for my 2 handicaps, reducing Mid Life's numbers by 2 for the first drive. I lost the toss and received.

The first turn was positive. I knocked over all 3 players on the LOS, recovered the ball and then fouled one of the players off. Amazingly my DP managed not to get caught, which has been something of a rarity for him in recent times. I moved the ball downfield, KO'ing a few more players as I went. A 1d hit on the ball carrier resulted in a Pow and the ball bounced favourable for Mid Life Crisis.

Now on the back foot, I madly tried to reorganise my players to get the ball back. I was fortunate enough to knock down the ball carrier on a 1d hit, KO'ing him in the process. My Wight caught the ball on the resulting scatter and managed to survive a Blitz on the next turn. This was when I made my biggest mistake of the game.

In T7 I stood up one of my Ghouls and moved him into scoring position. Then instead of ending the turn for that player I clicked on the turn counter and ended the turn for my entire team! I realised my mistake the second I made it but it was already too late. Way to make your Premier league debut! [hangs head in shame]

While it cost me my chances of a TD I was fortunate enough not to concede one as a result. 0-0 at half time and I wasn't feeling too confident of getting anything but a loss out of the game at this point.

The second half started in a Quick Snap, bringing a couple more of my players into block range. The ball also landed next to the sidelines and predictable scattered out of bounds for a touchback. My Strip Ball Wight was taken out early on and things weren't looking good as more of my players were KO'd off the pitch.

Things turned around a bit on one turn. Most of my players managed to stay on their feet from blocks and in my turn I scored a few Pows. Unfortunately for Oz, my ST6 Mummy, Lacrosse, killed his MB Blitzer, Bucket List. The apo went to work on him but must have poked his finger too far into his brain, as he bring him back from the dead. Nuffle has a funny sense of humour though. That hit gave Lacrosse 52 SPP and he proceeded to pick up a niggle on the predictably failed ageing roll. Back in the game, my remaining Wight tried to chase after the Thrower sitting in the backfield but failed his second Dodge roll.

The Humans passed the ball downfield and made a break for the end zone. I was able to pin the ball carrier against the sideline with my Wight but wasn't close enough to be able to get a hit on him. All Oz needed was to push my Wight away to waltz in for a T14 TD. He moved a player in for the Blitz and then managed to roll a 1, rerolled 1 on the GFI roll on the actual hit. To make matters worse he KO'd himself in the process!

My Wight then did his job and crowdsurfed the ball carrier on a 1d block. The ball was thrown back in 3 times before it finally landed on the pitch, on top of my Ghoul who was standing next to the other sideline! Unfortunately he was standing next to one of the Human Catchers and was unable to hang on to the ball, even with a re-roll. I put as much protection around the ball as I could and hoped for the best.

1 more turn of not much happening left the ball still on the ground and with 1 Mid Life player still within scoring range. The Mid Life catcher made a series of Dodges and a 4+ roll to pick up the ball and move next to the player in scoring range. That left just the hand-off with a re-roll still remaining. At that point Nuffle spat on Oz again. 1, re-roll 1 came up and the game ended in a draw.

Overall it was a good game played in very good spirits. Oz even suggested I call my "Skip Turn" move my signature move! :) By all rights I should have lost this game. Unfortunately for Oz, Nuffle works in mysterious ways and there isn't a lot you can do when he decides the result. Thanks for the game Oz and best of luck for the rest of the season.

3 Votes: Poetry Night - This guy was a constant source of annoyance. I just could not get rid of him. Almost single handedly won the game for Mid Life in the last turn. Unfortunately for him his team mate wasn't up to the challenge.

1 Vote: Swinger - A ST4 Block Tackle player is not what my Ghouls wanted to see on the opposition. Played a good overall game.
