#12 Sniper – Dead (RIP)
Kondor crossed the pitch and complimented Coach Lawman on a well played match. Simply put, this match was a gift from Nuffle. All Praise to Nuffle. Follow along and see how it went.

The Guard is not built to deal with fast teams. They are built to play against bashers. Or so I thought. The Guard entered this match with their star blitzer recovering from the last match. Add to that the fact that two of the fellas got into an argument over who was the greatest player on the team. As neither would be on the field with the other, the Guard was forced to field the rookie. He was quickly killed by that rat Buster Indechops.

Still, Nuffle is good, and he was appeased by the blood sacrifice. The first half saw the ref join the Guard. Sadly, the dirtiest player was the one who thought he was the greatest, so he sat idly on the bench. In the slow grind down the field, the rats sent a few players to the bench, and the guard slipped up dropping the ball at the feet of the rats. With time running out, the gutter runner grabbed it and cleared it near the far endzone with the plan to chase it down and score. In the final moments of the half, Jarhead chased it down, and handed it to Shuttle Pilot who threw it over the head of Buster into the hands of Jolly Green who dodged away for the TD.

Still, the Guard had to kick, and it fell in what seemed to be an easy TD for the rats. The gutter runner moved forward on a quick snap, then was pushed a bit further, but when Stinka tried to hand it off, the runner dropped the ball and the first half time expired.

With the second half kick off, the rats showed exactly what they tried to do at the end of the first half. Myles Long took the ball after another quick snap and sprinted the length of the field for a one turn score.

With most of the second half left to be played, the Guard once again took the ball and started a plod down the sidelines vowing not to score until time was about to run out. That was a vow they could not live up to, and after putting all save one of the gutter runners on the bench, the Chaplain scored the go ahead point and hoped they could hold the line.

With the kick off, the ref quickly switched sides and it looked like things would get ugly again. Myles stood at the line, but this time he could not get the extra jump. It would take a couple of plays to score. The extremely strong thrower got too close to the crowd, and was sent surfing by the shuttle pilot. Without their leader, the rats got a little confused. Myles found himself out in the open where the Guard Blitzer could reach him. The ball was jarred loose, then scooped up and thrown back to the witchelf who sat fairly comfortably. The ensuing blitz saw her remain standing, then cruis over handing the ball to Jolly Green, who ran like the wind towards the endzone.

Indeed, this was one where Nuffle smiled upon the Guard.
-----------------------------------

Good game Lawman. I think there was a turn 16 foul in there that was without reason, but whatever. No hard feelings. I know you were frustrated by the Nuffle Love I got.

POWs and casualties on gutter runners were the luck I really needed. I also realize the my first half TD and your gutter runner dropping the ball when he had an open score was rough luck.

However, without that luck it would not even have been a game. I doubt I'd play this particular team again not because of the coaching (you are a good sport and it was a fun match), but because I had no real answer for stopping your one turn machines. It was my first encounter with them and I will have to think over how to deal with them before accepting them again.
