The starting whistle had barely faded when Darkness, Inc's Vincent sent Halvor to the hospital. This didn't faze the lads, though, and they immediately closed ranks on the stiffs, stopping them dead in their tracks. The first half was a grinding war of attrition, with neither side giving the other any quarter. About two thirds into the half, young Thorfang found an opening and got up close and personal with their ghoul runner. This turned the momentum in our favour, and Darkness, Inc had to start backtracking to keep us from stealing the ball. The first half ended 0-0, but the Stoppers clearly had the upper hand in the end. Very promising, considering that the 2nd half would be their turn to drive.

And drive they did. The kick was as rotten as the zombie that gave it, but it landed right in the lap of Baldar Stoutshield, securing our control right from the start. Baldar handed it to Regin while the others started clearing a path. It was a solid, confident drive from the boys, knocking out a few zombies on the way, bringing home the TD just past halfway through the period. Then it was time to defend again, and this the lads did with the same concentration and willpower as the drive, foiling the stiffs' desperate attempt to draw the game.

Overall, then, an absolutely top-notch performance by the Stoppers. Long have we waited for them to find their spirit again, and now our patience has been rewarded. Darkness, Inc tried their best, but tonight there was no stopping the Short Stoppers.”
